Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice ....................................................................................................................................................................................
His pack was slowly rebuilding. Two new members had showed up to the meeting and pledged their loyalty to him, and another had spoken to him afterward, showing interest in joining. And afterward, he had traveled to his favorite place in all of Blossom Forest – Staircase Falls – and had had a rather interesting conversation with a beautiful femme who had openly flirted with him. Kalgalath had assumed that his heart would not be ready for a long while – if ever – for another femme to enter his life. Nika had left him years ago, only to return to stir up feelings when he had finally started to accept how he felt about Zig. Then Zig had betrayed him and the brute had been force to exile his own mate… and Nika of course had come to see him in pieces. He had thought that perhaps he should never let his heart open up again so that he could prevent himself from not only being hurt, but also to prevent himself from falling to pieces. He needed to be strong for his daughter and for the pack he was responsible for… so it more than a little bit surprising how easily he found himself connecting with Hocus. He did not think she was the type of femme that he would fall for, but rather the one he would enjoy and who would be purely fun, no stress.
He was still riding the high he had felt from simply being in her presence as he made his way pack, taking the long way around by passing through the eerie Sacred Stones that he often liked to contemplate. He felt like there was something… more to life. He often wondered about their history, where they came from, why they so often had fog surrounding them – for they did not sit in a swamp or a valley… and that’s when he heard it.
Is it safe?
The words were soft, as if it was a secret being whispered. Kalgalath snuck toward the sound when suddenly his azures peeked upon a pair of pups that were opposing to each other. One was thin and an ivoress, the other chunkier and ebonero. But more than that… the pups were alone. There was no parent escorting them… so no doubt they had fear for their safety.
“Are you two okay? Where are your parents? I can help you find them if you are lost, my name is Kalgalath.” His deep voice came out gently, so as not to frighten them, his body soft and relaxed, low to the ground.
