News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Kalseru
yes. all men must die, but we are not men

Some of the happiest moments in the young girl’s life involved curling up around her family in the quiet of their den, especially on mornings such as this. They were older now, the four young dragons and while they would be fully capable of finding their own dens it was not something that had much crossed the girl's mind. Even on the nights when Jericho piled in with them tehre was room to spare and while her brother's paws were growing larger and their sleeping legs capable of giving harder kicks these days it wasn't something she wanted to leave. Why curl up in her own, lonely den when she had family aplenty that made a much better mattress? Then again she didn't fathom the thought that perhaps Daenerys might want more private time with Uncle Jericho, as she still thought of him, or that one day they may require the space for their own children. That was for a different time and place, for now she wouldn't dream of it unless her mother instructed her otherwise.

With the absence of her mother's warmth she had half awoken, but it concerned her little for Dany was often up early to deal with pack matters and it only took stretching her legs out and rolling over atop her brother Rhaegal’s prone form for her to drift off to slumber again. She shared a special kind of bond with her brown-capped brother, though she loved each of her brothers of course, the two of them were connected in a quieter manner and with her slender head draped over his shoulders they almost blended together in certain places. Her mother’s voice reaches into the depths of her light slumber causing her dark ears to twitch at the noise even as she buried her head deeper into her brother’s fur. It was followed quickly by the warmth of her mother’s tongue atop her head, a favorite gesture of hers that Kalseru could only pretend to dislike, even though she still fought off waking. Small, black paws crossed over her masked face in protestation until she felt her brother’s start to rise and knew she could put it off no longer.

Disentangling herself from Rhaegal she rose, stretching down first so that her chest almost touched the den floor then forward so her back legs drug for a moment to stretch out the sleep tightened muscles. Then with a shake of her coat that had it falling in back into perfect waves she was out of the den and into the open air. She blinked still a bit blearily at the horizon where the faintest hint of light could be seen escaping over the horizon turning the dark night sky a more purplish blue color. With a yawn she looked back to her mother and the three boys that now tumbled out of the den as well with a questioning look but she said nothing.

The importance of this adventure hung thick in the air and the silence that encompassed the family as they set off down a well-worn trail was almost reverent. As they traveled, Kalseru right on the heels of her mother, she had an idea that this was Dany finally taking them to a place that was special to their family throughout the generations and her heart raced in excitement. Her steps were almost dainty as they picked their way across the mountainside, each paw placed with the care and ease that only those born of the mountains could attain having known the demanding landscape since birth. As the trail climbed toward to one of the highest peaks in their lands she almost collided with her mother when she moved to continue straight on as they normally did. She compensated quickly, the grace of her size and stature showing she recovered herself and followed Dany down what was barely a trail at all, merely a slightly more worn patch of dirt than that which lay next to it.

It made sense now that none of them had managed to stumble upon this place before now, even they who knew almost every corner of the mountain pack lands would have overlooked this trail it was so discreet. The path grew steep and even the usual sweeping gait of Kalseru faltered with the exertion of climbing so high, offering her mother a tight smile as she turned to check on them but refusing to complain about the hike trying as it might be. Finally after winding through a seeming maze of rocks the world opened up again and they emerged on a huge ledge that dropped off suddenly and offered a sweeping view of the entire land below. Silently she stepped after her other, following her to the very lip of the rock where it dropped of suddenly, a fear of heights not something her blood even allowed as she took in the gorgeous views.

Her sides heaved from the exertion of the climb, her mouth parting slightly as she panted to cool down while she simply took it all in without a word. For truly there were no words for the gift and heritage their mother had shown them today, nothing that could fully describe or encompass the weightiness of their history in these lands. All in all it was a fresh reminder of the gravity of their bloodline and her duty to uphold it to the best of her ability. She had been training as a Seneschal and this brought the importance of that back into full view, she had a lot to live up to and while it was easy for her to be distracted by more trivial pursuits she could never lose sight of all this. Her brother’s came up beside her and she leaned into the shoulder of the closest one of them, not able to take her moon-rimmed eyes off the horizon to see who it was as the first brilliant streaks of light poured over and illuminated the world around them. She found herself sitting a bit straighter, pride sparking in those mahogany eyes.
