It wasn't that long ago that I never bothered with the numerical puzzles as they always seemed to be such tedious slogs. Not so these days. I am amazed at the variations that are employed by the compilers, especially the way that solution paths always seem to have different twists to them. So another very enjoyable solve. I did inflict some torment on myself by misreading the preamble and spending some time looking for three hints in the letter ordering, before I realised GAP was to be considered twice. Mind you I know a lot about the various interpretations of RDX now!
It was an occasion where writing out all the entries paid off, as it was easier to see the pattern emerging for the treatments; I don't know how many occurences there are for the process used, but it seemed to me it was some feat to fill a grid with them. Thanks Elap. Replies:
