My first litter with Seline has indeed grown into strapping young men. Kronos and Cuirass are a sight to behold with their muscles filling out and their legs ten feet long. As my son comes into view beside me, I smirk and dip my head just enough for him to see the greeting, my tail giving one wave of welcome. It's good for him to start seeing things like this and learn how to patrol the borders and greet new wolves, though I'm sure he and Cuirass will pick up on it quite well. I listen to my son's words and have to agree. Asteraia is indeed more of a ghost town compared to what Diveen used to be. Though I hear they're quite empty as well these days. His question makes my ears prick in curiosity. How intriguing for him to think of such a thing.
Antoher wolf appears behind the small family, a younger girl with snake-like eyes who looks upon us with curiosity. It's apparent from her posture that she's not completely with the family before us but the way she looks at the weaker mother figure is caught by my keen observing gaze. Perhaps she is a mother more than once and this is anther litter? She doesn't look anything like the male with her so perhaps there was another? She certainly seems protective of the mother, not so much the young with her or the male. I don't see her as a threat for now though I do keep her in the back of my mind. I note the way she's looking at Kronos though, quite interesting. I turn my attention back to the family as the male hisses in his throat, a warning to me as I look at his children. His hackles raise. My own remain smooth, my lips curling into a lazy grin, my eyes gleaming like it was all a joke but any true killer can see the spark in my eyes and know that it was anything but. Though he may be able to take me straight on, I'm not that kind of killer. I take my victims in the dead of the night while they sleep and are far less of a threat. Some may call it cowardice. I call it efficient. I am thriving as an older vampire, not something a lot of vampires can boast.
I take note of his words, my ear flicking in interest. Ah, so he is a cannibal then, or something close to. I keep this in mind. His next words are something I cannot disagree with. Jaidah has been absent a lot as of late and her scent is weak on the borders. I tilt my head. "But surely that's not the only reason. If you wanted a barren land with no alpha, you could take your pick of the open lands. You came here, to a PACK land, for a reason. You want protection...some place to settle down and raise your family...am I getting warm yet?" My face crinkles with humor. Then he answers Kronos and I note the way he looks at him, as if he knows where he has come from. I turn my head to look at my son. I guess his markings do kind of look like the Angel markings, though anyone would know better if they saw his mother. His answer doesn't surprise me since he doesn't look the type to want friends or family. Do any of us really seek it out? I grin, easily showing amusement at the words he speaks of the new Diveen alpha. Sounds like juicy gossip. Seline should hear this. I nod in acknolwedgement as he finishes. So the family has made his path.
I don't quite understand what in Asteraia would be familiar to him unless he might know one of the wolves here or something. Either way, I shrug and nod. "There is always room for those who seek it. Your family may stay here as long as you see fit." I can see the way he looks back at the younger female, my theory looking more correct by the minute. He doesn't like or trust her. Meanwhile I do watch the mother, aware that even weak, she is still someone to consider. She leaves her male to answer the questions though when she looks back at the younger female, I note the recognition. So she must be a daughter. As she sits up and speaks, I nod in agreement. "What can I call you then?" My eyes fall upon one of the small pups venturing toward us and I can't help but grin and wag my tail a little when she squares off and lifts her tail in challenge. "Such a tiger you have here." I comment softly. I wouldn't be so soft with children, I think, if I didn't have some of my own. The girl gets distracted by a grasshopper and I chuckle under my breath.
I turn then to see a young male pup of the litter standing beside his mother and his body starts trembling. At first I think nothing of it, thinking he is justplaying brave with his tail over his back while really he is terrified. But then he lets out the most blood curdling shriek I've ever heard and my ears flatten in my skull in discomfort. "Can't you make him more quiet?" The words are almost a plea from my lips as I look to the parents to do something. Surely this can't be healthy and he looks like he's going downhill and fast. It seems another of the male pups has decided to take it into his own paws, leaping up and at his brother to try to close his mouth himself. I silently cheer the pup on in his task.
