I understand the tax new pups put on a mother, but..
Mother had been absent, and with her gone, my observations of the world have become increasingly complex. I have discovered my personal tastes as far as meats, I know who I am and what I want to be. As far as yearlings go, I am an exceptional specimen. One day, I will be queen of the plains, and under my direction we shall grow greater than what my mother plans here. Things such as this take time to build, she claims. It takes time to make wolves like us trust enough to join our empire. Though, already mother's silver tongue is proving most effective in making others trust her. It is a skill I wish to possess as well.
It is the sound of ripping that first catches my attention is the keening squall of an animal in trouble. What I find on the other end of this sound however, is a small pup - younger even than my newest siblings. She must be one of those who come from Diveen, I can still smell the dirt in her pelt, though I am glad she lends aid to our ranks, I wonder why it is such a young pup would be alone. Mother never left us alone, not until later when she was sure we could handle ourselves. This pup seems capable enough though, and as she begins the arduous work of plucking her catch. "Pretty bird you have there. How are you finding the grasslands?" I keep my tone civil, as all of the wolves in Asteraia are family, even if we are dysfunctional.
