CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.

THE FRONTLINE WALK 7-11 OCTOBER 2015
IP: 86.139.159.44

I believe this to be a very worthy and worthwhile cause.

If I were not already booked to go on a battle field tour in September I would love to have tried this.

I ask all Association Fusiliers to consider taking part.

THE FRONTLINE WALK 7-11 OCTOBER 2015

Below is a transcript of a letter from the ABF. Any serving or retired Fusilier wishing to attend should contact RHQ.

“From the 7-11th October 2015, a group of fundraisers will trek 100km of the Western Front through France and Belgium, starting at the Lochnagar Crater, and finishing at the Menin Gate with the Ceremony of the Last Post.

We would like to invite you to join us.

Last year, representatives from the Royal Anglian Regiment and the Mercian Regiment took part in the Frontline Walk. They walked to represent their Regiments sacrifice during WWI; it provided the soldiers with a perspective of their Regimental legacy, whilst raising fund to support soldiers, veterans and their families today. The civilian walkers all commented that walking with the soldiers was ‘a most humbling experience’ and their ‘friendship and support made a huge difference’.

Taking part in the event gave our civilian participants a real connection to the Army and some understanding and appreciation for what the British Army does.

The top fundraisers had the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Menin Gate, during the Ceremony of the Last Post. In a fitting and moving tribute, the top fundraiser offered this once in a life time chance to the youngest soldier on the Walk – an 18 year old Private, to represent the new generation of soldiers saluting the last.

We extend the invitation to take part in the Frontline Walk to you and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Association. Your assistance in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated. I have included some leaflets on the Walk; or more information on the Walk can be found at soldierscharity.org/frontlinewalk or by contacting the Walk organiser, Amy Kenyon on 0207 811 3960 or akenyon@soldierscharity.org”

Brigadier (Retd) I R Liles
