Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Finding the wolf whose scent he was following told him in the back of his mind that history would only be dredged up, and Riot was not sure he was ready for such a thing. How much would change about his life if he were to find out more about this wolf that he searched for? Would it mean anything to him, would it matter? Would knowing the truth of all this change things for others? For how Aithne viewed him, or anyone else that knew him? Or the other one, even? Because that was something that Riot had to think about, and although he knew this had to be done and done soon, Riot still felt thaty hesitation that kept him from being as focused as he would have been otherwise.

Tasks were important to him, and he held them in high regard, knowing that they were the key to his success, and he craved that success, wanted to be better than he was. If he had to uncover the past and find out more about himself and his blood than he was interested in doing right now.. then he would do it. But he did not have to be excited at the idea, did not have to want to know. He just had to go and gather the information, because that was how this kind of thing worked. He would get that position already he knew, because he had enough to tell Aithne as she had requested, but more was always better, he knew. He wanted to show her he was able to do this, willing to find out.

So when Loup Garou asks if there was a reason that he did not want to find the wolf he trailed, then told him if it was too personal he didn't have to answer, Riot smiled wryly. "It may or may not be personal. I think that is why I do not wish to find him." He responded evenly, knowing that the answer wasn't a great one, but it was an honest one, at least. He was not sanguine about the situation. He had told her why he did not want to find the wolf, and that he couldn't be sure on the idea. So he was dragging his paws on the matter, because he wasn't sure he was ready to know any of these things. That made sense, didn't it? That he held back because if it was personal, it could change his life.

Pleasentries aside, Riot had to think about the matter at hand. The trail did not go far through the riverside, and wandered off into the craigs as far as he could tell. Bringing someone else into the situation wasn't exactly what Riot had in mind, so he could simply cut off the searching here. He wasn't going to mind it, and maybe whatever it was she said she was looking for could be a fair distraction for him. He wouldn't mind helping her out in her search, since it would give him time to debate how to go about proceeding with his own task. He needed the break, needed to just think of something else for a little while. IT felt as if he'd been going at this nonstop lately.

His warning was only that; a warning. He did not want to bring her along to something that she had no clue about. This was a dangerous task, and Riot did not think it would be fair to just let her walk along with him, not knowing to what she might be getting herself into. Riot did not want that kind of guilt on him, did not want her hurt because she wasn't aware of what he was doing. Who he was tracking down (though he only has a scent and the knowledge that the creature he searched for had done a terrible thing to another wolf). Honestly, Riot felt that the wolf who had been attacked thought of him as a sort of friend, which made the whole thing feel worse in a way.

He blinks when Loup Garou speaks again, telling him that they might have something in common, that they were both looking for an attacker. She was looking for her own. His eyes widened a little, ears flicking forth to better listen to anything that she might say of the situation. This could help him with his task, if she had anything to say about the matter. His eyes were a little wider as he looked at her, waiting for her to continue. She had spoken his name, yet he said nothing, standing there and wondering what else she had to tell him, if there was much on her own. She looked like she was re-living the attack, from the way she was reacting.. or the lack of it.

But he would not prompt her on it, letting her get to that herself. Soon enough she was speaking again, and he was listening to her words. Woken up in a cave without memories, remembering falling, and yellow eyes. He stores away this information, rolling it over in his mind thoughtfully. It could help, if only a little. Just eye color wasn't that helpful, but considering that none of the others had yellow eyes that he had found out about... this was still good to know. He listened to her question and glanced away for a moment. "It is possible. So far I haven't heard of a yellow eyed wolf attacking anyone, but then, I do not actually know the color of this wolf's eyes." He said evenly.
