i'm a wild child
simple yet experimental.

Nesrin had decided to venture out of the Crossing again. She had to while she still had the means to do so…there were many new souls around her. Things were changing more rapidly now for the young buckskin dun minx. Everything had been so new and strange, the world was bigger outside of her desert dwelling and she was a light in a sea of souls drifting along. The road had become lonely. And then…she met him. The man was dark and certainly not the most beautiful of creatures, but he was powerful and strong and so many things that caught the young desert born daughter's curiosity. In the darkness they were one and she now was with his child. They were lonely souls that found each other. Now the wild hearted lass had to call to question what sort of life she could give her child, now the only thing that mattered in the world. The man she had hoped to find by leaving the desert was nowhere to be found, and he would always have her heart. Now there was another man she chanced to cross one night, it was his child she carried. When she thought upon how she felt of this stallion, her mind was clouded with uncertainty. And in her own habit, she shrugged and sighed and moved on to other thoughts.

As she travelled she would hum to sad and eerie lullabies of the desert she hailed from, far from these islands. She would tell her child stories of the star gods and their adventures as mortals. And as for her sire…well, Nesrin had to wonder just what sort of role the hessian would play in their child's life. The desert born minx smiled as she thought of him. She certainly did not hate him or regret that night they met, rather he puzzled her with how mighty and raw he appeared. Nesrin had to wonder how his touch was so gentle (not that she was complaining). Thorns twitched as she found herself in familiar surroundings. Where she felt safe, there she hoped her child might dwell and grow and be introduced into the world. Before her dry lands but in its midst an oasis stood with an inviting water hole and some semi-green foliage. The vix drew close, her ash dipped pillars carried her cautiously, eyes looking about for someone who might call dominion over this place. The only thing she was sure of right now was her thirst. Still cautiously she walks up to the water and dipped her head gracefully for a drink, then another and another.

The mare knew how to live in the desert and there was that grace about her even with her swelling belly. She would deliver her child soon, and she hoped it would be here under the canvas of a million desert stars.
