Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Covet never found out if the others had been abandoned, because he had been left alone, without any of his littermates to cling to. He doesn't know if he was the last to be left or the first, perhaps somewhere in between, yet there is nothing to suggest he knew any of it. It was possible he was the only one that hadn't been kept by the female who had given birth to him, and Cobryn hadn't been able to find the others either. It had not been a happy kind of discussion to raise, so Covet had tried to leave it alone. Mostly, he had thought the others had been killed, either by the wolf that had birthed them or the meteors that had come crashing down on so many. At least he still remembered what they had looked like, blurred memories and faded scents. But life went on and not all could survive. That had been a way of life long ago for him, and things were starting to change. In many ways it had changed vastly as it was, as Covet had become Rex of Diveen, and he was doing what he had set out to do. He doesn't think this was where his path ended, doesn't think he would grow old on a throne, but that was not the point of anything. He had accepted his spot as middle ground. And perhaps he would hold it for enough time to pass for someone else to take hold of what he had done.

He feels nothing good for the creature who had left him to die, and in his eyes it was Engima who was his mother and no one else. This was the way life had gone, and he was well aware that even after the meteors had finished raining down and things had started to calm, that Jaidah had known he survived it all, and still turned away. There was nothing else to say on the matter, and it's behind him now. Everyone seemed to have their own views on those who had created or cared for them, and Covet had come to terms with these things. They were all on their own, as far it it had gone from speaking with other half siblings, all had their own views on how the past had gone and who was there, who was not. Covet had thought his littermates had all died; so this sort of thing had come as a surprise to him, but he took it anyway. He could smell it on the male chasing the deer, see it in the design of pelt that was burned into him memory. He doesn't know why he hadn't forgotten it, but there it was. Still there, forever. He could tell by scent now when the relatives were around. Oddly enough, he had detected one scent that held something to it that made him want to know more. Soon. He would find out more eventually, but first thing was first, and this littermate of his had to be seen to.

If Covet knew the whole thing about the bloodline, he might have been more interested in seeing for himself what it would be like against the rest of them. It did ask a certain question of ego and blood, didn't it? The Stones had been warriors, the Altairs had been much like some parts of the Amazions; except it was not about gender for them. The entire litter was sent against each other, and only the strongest survived. Bliss had stopped that from her own, but she herself had been the one to slay her two littermates to survive. If they were all to learn these things of each other, then what might they all do with it? Bloodlines could be something interesting for them all, yet.. where they went with all of it, who was to know? Covet wasn't interested in playing all of this out with his own offspring, but then, he didn't know those he did have, and he wasn't really interested in the destruction of more if he were to have them. He could not be those things that the blood of his past had been. He was something else, because even from Jaidah's line he did not crave the flesh of other wolves. He desired their blood or went into a blood red frenzy haze, but that was what he had gained from her. He was not a mindless beast like Tobias seemed to be, not exactly as dark as some would paint him, but he had for so long taken down the weak because they were weak.

Soon enough, his brother was moving closer to him, and he paused in step, allowing the other male to come to him. There was a defening silence around Covet as he waited. The words cause the faintest of wry smiles to his maw. "I would imagine so, as we were born together." He responded in that deadpan tone; he was nothing like his two brothers, because what he got from his father was that desire to be close to family, to protect them. Not to tear at them if they displeased him in some way. He would, make no mistake, if it was pressed to him to do so, but it was not how he went about the meeting and greeting of his siblings, full or half. Covet was more of the other half of his blood by how he'd been raised, but that was the thing about nature and nurture. He had parts of both and it shone. Perhaps Jumanji only had the one part, but that was how life was sometimes, and Covet would accept whatever it was he had found here today. This done, the answered statement, and Covet was searching his brother for weaknesses, because he couldn't help but do so. "I am Covet, Rex of Diveen. What were you called?" It was of interesting amusement for him to use the title now, but he had felt the urge to do so, to show that he was not some easy prey, to make the assassin kingdom fall. Covet knew what those sided siblings could be like.
