The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

I look around. I am completely alone. My surroundings are familiar. Soon I realize I'm at staircase falls, where my home had been as of late. But how did I get here? The last thing I can recall is being in the Caverns. Halina was there, frantically I look around. Did she leave me? I scream her name. Only silence, even the falls seemed to lose all sound. I look around with tear swelled eyes, I did not blame her for leaving me I deserved it. It does not make it hurt any less. Tears stream down my dirty face. I look up at the top of the falls, and my jaw drops. I cannot believe my eyes. Before me is Kiara, well my mother. I dry my eyes, trying to make sure I actually see what is before me. We look identical, each with a completely white pelt, and ice blue eyes. Her eyes seem to look right through me. She notions for me to come towards her and without hesitation I make my way up the slick rocks. And as I stand before her, she looks different. She does not look like the loving mother that I once knew, she looks very cold..

I open my mouth and before I get a chance to speak she begins to yell "Did you think you could really replace me? Did you think I would let you replace me? I look down at my paws embarrassed, but I cannot help but hang onto her last words. While looking at my own paws, I cannot help but glance at her own. They are stained red, why red? I look up at her in horror. My once dry eyes were now filled back up with tears. What did you do? I cry. She looks at me and the look in her eyes makes me question if she is even my mother at all. Every part of me grows cold, and a new set of tears make their way down my cheeks. She growls, and it sends me backwards. And as I almost lose my footing, I stare at the water below which is now higher up than it was originally. If I fall it won't be good. I look back up at my mother, my heart is throbbing. What had she done with Halina. She speaks again coming closer to me Ace my dear child, you've disobeyed me. But most of all you've betrayed me. She is not your mother. You're going to have to pay for this son. I shake my head and slowly back away, but it is too late. Within two steps she has already reached me and with a quick motion she strikes me across the face. Too hard in fact, I'm sent over the edge of the falls. Falling for what seems like an eternity, finally I fall into the water. The water which was once so clear now turns black.

Ace, it's time to awaken little one. My blue eyes fly open with a jolt of my body. Definitely in relief my breath comes rapidly at first. Was it only a nightmare? I blink a few times to rid myself of the blurry vision. I look around, and before me is the only wolf I wanted to see. I stay still as she licks my pelt clean of all traces of blood. I take a look at my backside, covered in different things. I'm not sure what they are but they stink. Once she is done I slowly stand, at the moment not feeling much pain at all. I look up at her with sorrow filled eyes. I did have a lot to be sorry for. I step closer to her, and rub the top of my head against her chest. I can only say what comes to mind first I whisper, I'm sorry I was stupid. But thanks for not leaving me.

Tears fill my eyes, but I try my hardest not to let them come out. I'm just glad that she is okay, I'm glad that Kiara had not gotten to her, I guess I knew deep down that was not the mother I knew. But how could I not shake the feeling that meant something bad was about to happen right as the good was just beginning? I don't remove my head until I'm sure that the tears have stopped coming. I take a look around stepping carefuly away from Halina. It had not crossed my mind until now as to where we were. My ears go down against my head.It seemed quite scary, and I'm sure it was not only because we had arrived in the dark. I carefully being sure not to cause any harm to my newly patched up wounds. I
walk a couple feet away from her. I then life my ears up halfway Halina would not take me some place that she did not feel safe. I take a quick look back at her and trying to take all traces of fear out of my voice quietly I say, Where have you taken me?
