The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Grey Wind

The large grey brute was intently watching this mysterious being that had come to the borders of Abendrot. It was clear that he had a purpose, the lighter colored femme who was still unconscious at his paws had to be a part of that purpose. Noone came to Abendrot for help, any sane, and even insane, varg knew that. So he knew that this other brute did not come to the pack looking for medical aid with this femme, which means that he must have dragged her here, perhaps unconscious the whole time, a kidnapping maybe? Or, his original idea, an offering to Kershov. But then the real question was, how did this brute know the king of Abendrot? Did he have some debt to pay? Grey Wind doubted that. Kershov was not the type to leave lupines alive, or let them roam out of Abendrot’s lands if they owed him something. So then there was something else, something that the soldier could not pinpoint.

The brute hovering over the unconscious female remained silent. But the trio was joined by another Abendrot solider, Marx. The other brute made his way towards them, addressing Grey Wind but not the other two. Maybe he knew who this was then? He had been a resident of Abendrot longer than the grey brute, so he should know more than him. He nodded his head in respect to the other male, ”And good to see you, Marx.” The vargs of Abendrot were not usually ones of small talk, and Grey Wind was glad for that. He was not always good at making conversation with others and felt more comfortable in silence more often than not.

Not long after Marx came to the borders did the femme wake up. When she tried to move the larger brute put a paw on her, pushing her forcefully back to the ground. So maybe this was some sort of kidnapping then. He watched curiously, not speaking again to the pair. But Marx did speak up once the femme smiled at him. Did the pair know each other? “We haven't officially met, my lady. I'm Marx, high commander of the Abendrot Soldiers and you..... seem to be in deep waters.“ The grey brute still did not know this was, and he was afraid to bring up his ignorance, so he remained silent, watching the group interact. He knew he could probably walk away, but he wanted to learn who they were. And in case things didn’t go well he wanted to be there for back up. Not that he doubted Marx in any way, but it was better to be sure.

And then the ice king himself came to the gathered lupines. As always he greeted his soldiers by name before focusing on what was at hand. A grin etched onto his scarred features, something that did not often make itself present on the alpha. Clearly what was going on pleased him. To others, Kershov being pleased was not often a good thing, but for the soldiers of Abendrot, it often meant something fun and interesting. Grey Wind continued to remain alert, curious to see what would unfold. “Why, Princess Kobato. How wonderful it is to finally see you again.” At least the brute had a name now, even though he still was not entirely sure who she was. And he was sure that it would not be wonderful for her from Ker’s tone.

The female turned out to be nothing what Grey Wind thought. He assumed that anyone waking up facing three large males at the borders of Abendrot would show fear, terror, but she did not. In fact it was the opposite, she seemed like pure happiness. He did not understand how she did not show any fear at all, especially of the one that held her captive. And then she spoke, asking Kershov about his condition. What condition did she speak of? Grey Wind had never met a more confusing lupine in his life. His yellow orbs looked towards his alpha for a moment, confused by what she meant. As far as he knew there was no condition that Ker had. She said that he was mentally unstable, but was anyone mentally stable if they resided in Abendrot’s lands? And then her gaze turned to Grey Wind’s form. He stiffened as she stared him, wondering what she would say now. “And this one is unnerved about something or other. His motions and words are chipped.“ The brute let out a growl at her words. What did she mean that he was unnerved? This Kobato knew nothing of him or what he went through. How dare she say anything about him.

The female continued to speak, looking to each one of them and stating something that was wrong with them. Why did she think that she knew about them? Grey Wind once again thought how confusing this femme was. And then she questioned them, asking what they wanted with her, and gave accurate reasons as to why she would be useless to her. Grey Wind saw no point in her being here, or why this unknown brute had brought her to Abendrot, but he continued to remain silent. He would never question Kershov and waited to see what it was that he wanted to do. The other brute, the one holding down Kobato, seemed to be looking to Kershov for direction as well. The femme continued to speak, offering to help with healing in the pack. What kind of varg offered to help those that were holding her captive? The more she spoke the more the brute did not understand her. Grey Wind’s yellow orbs turned to Kershov’s white form, waiting to see what he would have to say to her.

"Fight back,"He snarled.
