Rick,
Just seeing this now. We are working on a document to post on website to explain. Lots of reasoning behind it but the short answer is the sustainability of the club. Old model of one volunteer doing all the work is not sustainable ie Jamie/Janet. When they leave club falls apart as we found out after Jamie left. We are looking at a more sustainable model by trying to obtain permanent staffing for the club as it has grown significantly.
Personally I find it hard to believe that when the club was in need financially race organizers complained and called it a money grab after all the thousands of dollars raise by the club for organizations over the years. I am personally disappointed in Micheal Irvine's attitude and approach towards the situation. Anyone can attend a meeting of the club and ALL members have a vote. We asked for input from members and presented at the AGM. My personal opinion is that most people just want to run and are not aware of the huge work that makes the races happen and the club operate. I have asked our summer student to put a call out to the members to get input on a variety of subjects. No one likes change and it will take time to sort this all out. We the executive welcome all input and if you want to help step up, we will welcome you.
