While he paged through the ledger, Luke kept peeking at Theoden and Indigo from the corner of his eye; what he saw only further confirmed for him that he'd made the right match. A small twinge of pride, and also of bittersweet loss, combined in his heart. It was amazing to see Indigo so happy, probably the happiest the fellow had been since they'd brought him back to the kennels, and it was good to know his instincts were right on the money, but it was also hard to lose a friend. At least with Theoden doing work at the kennels, Indy would likely hang around for a bit longer.
"Sounds like a deal!" Luke said, holding a hand out for Theoden to complete their bargain. He made a quick note in the ledger, signing next to Indigo's name and holding a pen out for Theoden to make his own mark. It was about that time that he noticed - thanks to the various yips, barks, and howls that always accompanied a visitor - his pal Kane hovering not far away. Grinning now, Luke finished up the final bits of paperwork and handed over the packet of information on Indigo - things like his lineage, special commands, and notes from his previous master about the dog's likes and dislikes - to the man. Agreeing he'd see him again shortly, Luke trotted over to Kane, swinging one leg over a kennel door to perch next to him.
"Hey man, what's up?" he asked casually, giving one of the pups a stern look (that was ignored) as it tried to gnaw on Kane's shoes. Hearing Luke's voice nearby, Sasha started wailing at the top of her puppy lungs, and - with a sigh - Luke retrieved her quickly.
