The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

He is not sure, truly, what words he had expected from his mentor and favoured Leader and yet perhaps he had not truly anticipated how very much his once-Alpha had aged either. It was a painful thing, to some extent, to see the wear of time upon a creature whom had once seemed so wholly unconquerable, a black giant whom had regained larger than life in the eyes and mind of the stocky little white and brown wolf. He was aged now, Devil, grey around his muzzle, his form less muscular and lacking the sheer presence it had once held and yet to the mind of the warrior- even despite what he saw before him there was still an awe, of sorts, a wonder that had forever eclipsed him in the presence of a King so great a fixture of his mind that would surely always remain even despite what lingered before him now. Some memories, after all, would cease to fade.

“I left because there was no Paracon left to serve and that was always my home. You were content with your place among Angels and did not need my protection or assistance. I left to become what I had always desired to be and would have failed to be were it not for you. Maybe you are no longer Alpha, but as I told my brother earlier- there are some who will forever hold a crown even without a kingdom to stand upon and whether it should seek to please you or otherwise, sir, you have always been my leader.”

His head simply dips once more, adding an assurance to his words as those amber eyes rest upon his companion and Alpha now, his once pristine white form battle scared and marked, fur healed awkwardly over aged wounds- a warrior in every inch of his form, the thing he had forever and always desired though whether Devil truly noticed such things, or saw the age upon Risk’s own form remained to be seen as the black wolf sought to assure him no one else of import existed among them. For a moment the aged warrior merely allows his features to frown, choosing to offer no further comment upon whom Devil had been speaking to, it was after all, not his business to delve into such things and as such he merely allows it to pass. There are far more things he wishes to speak of besides, a small smile resting softly upon his features, still pleased to merely be within the company and presence of one he held a truly great respect for.

“I asked after you, in one of the packs, I do not truly know which one for I was not told- the leader there, a brother of mine, seemed unsure of many things and knew not where to find you. I stayed the night in that pack and would you believe, I had the most curious of dreams.”

For a moment the male simply paused, gaze resting upon his leader once more, assured the older male may very well laugh him off else dismiss him entirely for truly Risk himself hardly believed in the acts of fate or spirits or dreams. A good story however, was something he had been taught well to value be Faol’an and it is that value of such that surely sees him continue now.

“I often dream of those I left behind, those I remember with fondness as well as many I have met these past years. Yet, last night a dream I have most often was…interrupted. There was a white wolf, I think, he would never let me see him, he kept snapping at my heels- trying to show me this place with rocks and caves and each time I turned around he would disappear, it was very curious, I do believe he thought he was funny. When I woke I spoke to a child, a most curious child he was too, a white boy with silver tipped fur that was beautiful in the light and red ears. I know not whom that child was but he was familiar to me in some regard. He told me of this place and it was here I found you though whether by luck or fate I do not know. I simply desired to find you and so it occurred. Faol’an always believed in such fanciful things, he would find humour in this story though I believe him long since passed.”

There is another pause once more, his memories of his Father lingering with a pleasantness in his mind before he returns his attention in full to Devil.

“Tell me, if you will, how do you fare? How is your family, your children? I should like to visit with Heyel too if it is so you may direct me to him. He was never….my friend as he was yours but as I said before there are some amongst us that I am privileged to have ever stood before, yourself, Heyel, Bonecalw and Moonglow, even Lucian or Jaidah and Aresnic. Do any still live?”
