Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

She had been looking for something to hunt all on her own of late, though she knew she could only take down small prey by herself. Probably. Though as far as today went, Raptor was going hunting for hares. She had been poking about the fields in stealth mode, eyeing any hole that looked like a rabbit could live in it. Or arise from it at any second. So she was prowling about, settling near one for awhile before finally getting up and moving along. It was possible that she could have scared off one or two by simply hovering around before getting comfortable in waiting, so she kept this all in mind when she went to the next rabbit hole, then the next. One of them had to be a bingo, right?

For awhile she had kept to the treeline that seperated the woodlands from the fields, as the wooded area was where Lex was at this point. Doing whatever mothers did when they had alone time, but it was Fall and Raptor wasn't concerned with any of that. She was focused on what she was doing, growing bolder in her steps further into the fields and away from where she probably should have stayed. The noise of the woods could make the hares more twitchy anyway, something that had crossed Raptor's mind on the whole ordeal. So she kept venturing into the taller grasses, crouching down and being as silent as possible. She had gotten pretty good at it by now.

Spotting what looked like a dip in the ground some paces away, Raptor was on high alert. She sniffed quietly, ears pricked and moving only slightly to listen. The area smelled pungent of hare, which made Raptor conclude that it might still be in it's burrow. Anticipation ran through her as she crept closer and once close enough to lunge when a hare appeared, she hunkered down to wait for the sight of long ears and fur. As long as she could keep her stomach from making gurgling noises, she had a good chance of waiting long enough to caught the hare off guard. Raptor wasn't aware how much time had passed until the creature poked it's head out and started to emerge from the burrow, but- she lunged and snapped her jaws around the hare and it was all over in seconds.
