PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

YOU LEFT ME IN THE DARK

IMPAZIENZA

The stallion had an annoying habit of referring to every female as “miss” before their name, a title that sounded derogatory to Impazienza. Neither the pregnant mare, one Taytim, nor Ysabel were juveniles or fillies, and her ears turned back another notch each time he spoke the title. Typical, she thought, breathing deep and even as the stallion spoke. Belittling mares and justifying it as being ‘polite.’ Stallions, she ended the thought with a light snort.

She flicked an ear at Ysabel as the fiery mare snapped at the stallion for daring to defy her. “You should have kept him with you,” she told the young hotblood. “You cannot control a prisoner you cannot see, nor can you trust a horse you hold captive to keep their word.” It was a light reprimand, meant to instruct more than anything else, but she did not look at the mare to see how it was received. Her attention remained on Rodrigo, who seemed curiously submissive despite his passive insults to both Taytim and Ysabel. Perhaps he chose not to show defiance with his body but with his words. Either way, the half-blind mare did not find him much different from the rest of his sex, and so abandoned her earlier idea to keep him on as a companion in the Peak.

Impazienza flared her nostrils. “I shall find out soon enough. Thank you for the gift, Ysabel,” she said, and looked toward her herd mate to give her a nod of dismissal. There was no need for her to stay. Her gaze returned to the bay stallion and she considered him in silence for a long moment, lips pressed together as she considered what use she could make of him.

“I have a task for you,” she said. “But it is a request, not an order, and one you are free to accept or refuse. Regardless of your decision, you will not be called a captive of the Peak any longer, and will be free to go about your business— or to fulfill what I ask of you, if that is what you choose. Have you the time or interest to assist me?”
