Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

The pair of them had been roaming away from the woodlands more in order to hunt, and today they had picked the open fields to do so. It had been a good choice in the fact that they had taken down a small deer, but it was mostly gone quickly enough and the two of them had started off again with full bellies. Lex had been more pressing on the idea of finding a proper den, and Raptor was dead set on it being somewhere in the woodlands. Lex was sure she had caught the younger female digging in a spot in hopes to create said den, but Lex wasn't convinced on the matter. She would much rather find something done or mostly done to deal with, but Raptor did not want to stray far from the foliage dense area.

This was understandable, but frustrating for Lex. With Raptor so bent on finding a den (or making one!) in the woodlands, it meant that if Lex wanted to roam at random, her daughter might not come along. It was making Lex concerned that Raptor might be getting to the poing of being too independant to stay with her much longer. Lex did not like that idea, although the truth was that Raptor was thinking Lex would soon be shoving her out on her own. Without words to speak, it was hard for either of them to get it across what they were feeling on this matter, and so nothing was said or done about it. They festered over the entire thing within their own minds, and continued on.

After getting a good distance between themselves and the deer corpse -- as it would draw attention from all sort of creatures, they were sure of this -- Lex paused in step to lay down and rest. Raptor merely sat down a foot or so from her mother and glanced around, her ears swivling to listen for sounds. She thought that she caught the sound of someone moving closer some distance away and perked up at this notion, her slitted gaze roving over the immediate area. Lex noticed the subtle change in Raptor's frame, that bit of tenseness that told her that Raptor was on alert, but Lex did not ease up in relaxing, for there had been no other sound or motion to indicate that there was any danger.
