Taika need not have been told twice. She sprang out from behind her mother and raced towards the other two fillies. Overcome with excitement she kicked up her heels as she ran. She skittered to a stop in the stream, breathing hard though she was not winded.
”Hello!” She greeted, graying face shining like the sun with excitement. ”My name is Taika! Who are you?” Barely waiting for an answer she circled them, splashing in the water. ”You two are already soaking! We should go find another spot to play and dry!”

Curious, Adelheid had watched the mare and filly talk to her mother. When the other little filly came racing after them her inky ears flattened threateningly for a moment. Young, yes, but she did not like an unknown, and incredibly energetic, force plowing into them without some sort of something happening to them as a result. The other filly came to a stop just in front of them and Adelheid relaxed, understanding that she was not going to suddenly attack her or her sister. Bright blue eyes watched Taika splash around them uncertainly. She was excited to meet new people and play! But she also wondered if others would find her and her sister’s desire to talk to water spirits strange. The filly snorted, more to herself than those around her. She believed her sister, and loved the stories she told. Accepting that, she looked over at Taika.
”Where would we go?”
”Anywhere!” Taika answered excitedly. ”We could go to the meadow, the falls!” She pranced around the sisters. ”We can climb to the highest peak, and you can dry your coats closer to the sun!”
A little awestruck, Adelheid looked over at her sister, her dark face alight with the excitement that shined from her bright eyes.
“Can we really, Jetta?”

Taytim returned the other mare’s friendly greeting with a breath and a nose of her own, a smile on her lips as well. “ My little one is Taika. Be careful. If your girls tend to wander I can promise you my little trouble-maker will talk them into running away. My name is Taytim.” Her voice was filled with obvious affection for the filly. Turning slightly, she shifted herself so she could attempt to keep an eye on her offspring. To answer Inka she opened her mouth and closed it again when the friesian answered herself. The expression on Taytim’s face turned sheepish and she kicked the ground with a hoof. “Yes, I’ve been here a couple seasons with Rodrigo. I accidentally brought him here. I didn’t know the mountains were home to Vulcans.” She thought for a minute and looked even more naive and sheepish. It was clear at a time like this that she was young. Her life experiences consisted of the herd she had grown up in and travel. She had met other herds here and there, but never gotten to know them. “I did not know what Vulcans were… Ysabella captured him and kept him here as her…. ‘prize’.” The cheerful voice flattened as well as the mare’s ears, a clear insight to exactly how she thought about the pirate queen calling her friend a ‘prize’.
