MERS at Lorain Speedway Results

From Lorain Speedway FB:

The Main Event Racing Series (MERS) Super Late Models made their only appearance of the 2015 season to Lorain County Speedway on Saturday July 18, 2015 for the Central Transport 75 lap feature. In MERS qualifying it was Jeff Ganus topping the field with a time of 13.717. The MERS Central Transport 75 lap feature race closed out the evenings racing program.
The front row of Todd Currier and Billy Roberts took the green flag only to have the initial start waved off. It was Currier taking the lead followed by Josh Way who started third. Following Way would be Roberts, Bud Perry and Harold Fair Jr., the 2014 MERS champion. Currier would open up a half straightaway lead before the race had reached double digits. That lead would be erased on lap thirteen when Dave Stenhouwer spun into the infield.
Currier led the restart followed by Jimmy Carter, Perry, Ganus and Fair Jr. Once again, Currier would open up a commanding lead. Ganus would advance to second position with twenty eight laps scored. The caution flag was out on lap thirty four when Emerson Huffman spun in turn two. Currier led the restart but would be passed by Ganus with thirty four laps in. The top five would be Ganus, Currier, Carter, Fair Jr. and Way.
Ganus would have his pace slowed by numerous caution flags as the race went on. Ganus would have clear sailing for the last twenty laps enabling him to open up a half straightaway lead over Jimmy Carter. Ganus took the checkered flag, making it two MERS feature wins at Lorain County Speedway in a row, as he also won last years event.
The Modified thirty lap feature had Clay Pope and Ryan Cypher in the front row with Pope taking the early lead before the caution flag waved on lap two. Current Modified points leader Kenny Phillips and Cypher would be out of the race following a tangle on lap two. Steve Jones would take the lead. A blown motor ended the night for Mike Lawson on lap five and brought out the red flag for a lengthy clean up.
Jones led the restart as Craig Phillips was on the move. The caution flag was out again on lap thirteen for Matt Wilson who spun in turn two. Craig Phillips, who is currently third in the Modified point standings, would pass Jones for the lead and held on for his first Modified feature win of the season.
In the Grand Nation fifteen lap main it was Bob Lusetti leading from the pole. Running in second was Josh Way followed by Jeff Fade Jr., Bobby Schramm and Ron Burkholder. Lusetti, who is second in the Grand National point standings going into tonights racing program, would lead at the half way mark. At the finish it would be Bob Lusetti leading all fifteen laps enroute to the checkered flag to win his second Grand National feature of the 2015 season.
In tonights fifteen lap Charger feature Robert Zelenka would be the early race leader from his outside pole starting position. The caution flag waved on lap one for a turn two tangle involving Brandon Halcomb who is the Chargers points leader going into tonights show, and Austin Burkoholder, both drivers would be out of the race. After several restart attempts it would be Dan Smith, runner up in the Charger point standings, with the lead. The running order was Smith, Michael Parks, Trent Aslaksen, Nicholas Wolfe and Zelenka. At the finish it was Dan Smith holding off Michael Parks for his fifth Charger feature win this season.
