Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

No matter how many years Sleekwing had been doing this, the exhilaration of the hunt was never lost on him. He loved the way his heart beat faster, his legs became spry in the chase, and the well toned musculature of his body snapped to attention. Hunting was the most natural of things for a wolf to do, and to do it with another individual at your side was only to make the experience all the better. Sleekwing did not miss the way that Tithe looked to him to guide the hunt, and he recognizing the willingness of a youth that craved to learn - to become better. For many years now Sleekwing had been a teacher for the young warriors of Spirane, sparring with them and teaching them the basics of hunting. But there was something different about this particular young male, about this particular hunt. He couldn't quite put his paw on it, but then again he was far more concerned with the progression of the hunt than the reasons behind it.

At his signal, Tithe sprinted up alongside the doe. Sleekwing saw the way her eyes grew wide as she angled her head ever so slightly to the side to get a better look at her aggressors. Before she could think to dodge away from the unrelenting wolves, Sleekwing launched up and forward. His teeth gripped the meat of her haunch, and the collision of his body mass with her hindquarters was enough to make the weak forelimb give out. She stumbled, and Sleekwing clasped onto her with all his might. Tithe's timing was perfect as he lunged for the throat that practically fell into his waiting jaws. The doe went down hard and fast, her neck twisted at a gruesome angle as all four limbs thrashed out in an attempt to get herself upright once more. The seasoned hunter was quick to push off with his hind limbs, pivoting himself to stand behind her back but never releasing the pressure his jaws inflicted on her hindquarters. He had to help keep her down long enough for Tithe to end her life.

The violent flailing of her limbs slowly lost their vigor as blood pumped out onto the ground and through Tithe's jaws. Finally, her body stilled and her life left her body. Only then did Sleekwing release his hold on the haunch, silently dipping his head to the deceased doe before his head lifted slightly and he looked to the other wolf without whom this hunt would have surely taken much longer. The heather streaked male dipped his head once more, his tail extending straight out behind him and waving back and forth. Adrenaline coursed through his bloodstream, and his sides heaved from the exertion of the hunt. "Many thanks, my friend," he said, his baritone voice smooth and chivalrous. "You did well. My name is Sleekwing, a pleasure to meet you." He was perhaps so accustomed to being a tutor to young wolves that he could not help but give praise for a job well done. Whether the other wolf wanted to share his name or not did not worry the Castellan of the mountain too much. If he simply wanted to take his portion of the bounty and move on Sleekwing would not begrudge him that. He'd done a fair share of the work to deserve a reward for it. That being said, the gray wolf would not mind a bit of company while he ate, and maybe a little help carrying the leftover back to the pack he'd had his fill.
