"Her name is Birch" Whimsy answers, wondering if Cal also knows her. Shaman is not such a large place that it is an impossibility. She realized she had taken up too much of this strange person's time already though, asking questions and talking about herself, and she had yet to finish her shopping. The freedom of Shaman still made her look back at being a simple forest creature with a loathing she had never felt for the life before. It had been nice to know what was coming each day. Predictability. And yet now, she longed to do everything, see everything, and could not imagine giving it up, even for the promise of safety, food and/or a reliable schedule. Even if the freedom came at a cost. She smiled at Buddy, picking at the grass. Definitely a sign this conversation was winding to a close. Whimsy made a mental note she owed Cal a bag of fudge when she got the chance. "Okay, have a good time!" she intones, enthusiastically. Then turns to head to a new corner of the market, still intrigued with the sights, sounds and smells. She gives one last glance over her shoulder, hoping she will be lucky enough to find a familiar of her own soon, a bit envious of Cal with Buddy. Then her small frame disappears into the crowd. Later she wonders if she will ever run into her again, despite her intention of returning fudge to her, considering she does not even have an idea where the other lives, and Shaman is a larger community than perhaps she had originally assumed. She really only minds because Cal was so nice, and now she does not have a chance to repay her. But maybe she will ask Birch later, since she knows more people. It is difficult to give Whimsy any seriously pessimistic thoughts for too long, like trying to block out the sun, it is always just there behind the clouds. finis.  |
