Rose Grey, snip, star - Egyptian - blind in one eye

A'idah.

The name still fresh in her mind as if it were yesterday. But it was not yesterday, it was over three years ago. The day that she had found father, his last breathes fading on the hot desert wind. She had been the last to see him alive. If she had not been so young, she could of saved him. Chased off those invaders, even killing some of them, but she had been just a child. It was there at his side, they found her. The next days were dark, they had taken more then her father, they took the sight from her eye. She had laid there, writhing, as they struck her. They hoped she would give up the whereabouts of the rest of her clan, but she stubbornly refused.

The ocean, surges around her, tugging her each way. She strikes her hooves out in protest, no, it could not have her. She lifts her dainty head above the ocean's surface, her dark nostrils greedily drink in the air around her. A smear of green appears on the horizon, she sucks in her breath, an island. She strikes out with renewed vigor. She slices through the water with every stroke, almost forgetting the fatigue that plagues her weary muscles.

Abruptly, the sandy ocean bottom touches her hooves. The waves froth at her shaking legs as she pulls herself through the last of the waters. She drops her head, and closes her eyes. Silently she recites a prayer in her head. Ana bkheir Ilah She peers around with her one eye, she rotates her head fully until she has an idea of her surroundings. Her ears swivel atop her crown, the chirping of birds and the hum of the ocean drown out all other noises. She snorts, and raises her dished face high. She knows it is best if she seeks shelter within the forest ahead, and she must find fresh water.

As the coolness of the shady forest envelopes her, she almost shivers against it. She was used to the sweltering days of her homeland, where you only dreamt of shade. Every muscle in her body is tense as she wanders down the path, she is ready for any onslaught that may come. This was a foreign land, she did not know if it was dangerous, yet. As she nears a clearing, she can hear a rumble from behind the veil of trees. She takes a few steps forward and halts, her good eye scans the clearing. Content, that for the moment there was no one, she cautiously enters. Her ears flick nervously on the top of her head, her nostrils flare. If any approach, she would show no mercy on them. She may look like an innocent, young girl, but her game was that of deception.
