It was the same question was running through Luk’s head. What exactly did he want to learn? Of course there were the basics such as fighting and stealth and the like. But this ran much deeper than that. Ever since he was a pup, he was fascinated by the life style of his grandfather, Devil May Cry. The tales Zeteri used to tell him of how he and Heyel would travel the world like shadows and kill silently, swiftly. The noble wolf killing the evil bad guy for the good of the world. It had sounded like such a fun, adventurous life but he hadn’t known back then the consequences back then. Perhaps, even now, he still didn’t fully understand. But that didn’t stop the fasciation. He was determined to become great, like his grandfather before him. Truth be told, Luk had never met Devil and he wasn’t sure he actually wanted to. The wolf sounded like such an intimidating figure and those big paw prints to follow. A moment went by while the pup thought about Eden’s question. Then, with all the determination he could muster, he looked at the alpha and said. “I want to learn Death. If I am to become an assassin like my grandfather I want to understand everything I can. I want to become allies with Death.” The question may not have made sense to Eden, but to Luk it was what he wanted to learn. Of course there would be other things to learn, like how to kill and how to run. But these were the basics that most anyone could teach him. But it took a different kind of wolf to introduce him to Death. He didn’t know how Eden felt about the answer, at least not yet. Another silent moment went by and the huge alpha began to move around the tri-colored pup. He could feel those eyes sizing him up, judging him, and testing his worth. Then he backed away and gave a simple command. ”Bite me.” Luk stared for just a moment as he ran through the possibilities that could play out. Was Eden going to retaliate? If so, how would Luk defend himself? Did he want the child to bite with all his power or just a nibble? Time was ticking and the pup knew this was a test. Shaking his head and letting out a bark, he obeyed Eden and lunged forward, sinking his teeth into the exposed scruff. He wasn’t sure if this had been what the alpha wanted, but Luk didn’t hold back. He put as much power behind that bite as his two year old body could muster. Then, he released his victim and waited, still within striking distance. Eden could do whatever he wanted and Luk would allow him. As far as he was concerned, if Eden took him as his apprentice, he owned his life until the end of his days. |
