It was chance really, that I had been passing by, my chocolate and gold form gliding along the earth, stretching my rather ridiculously long legs as I did. I was nearly four now you see, nearly grown and I didn’t look so ungainly any more. My form was light, scruffy maybe but my muscle had finally become lean and hard, my long legs affording speed unlike any other and yet I suppose when you are the grandson of the fastest wolf to ever exist in Moladion, well, you’re bound to inherit something aren’t you? I loped along easily, amber eyes turned upon the rolling fields ahead. Asteraia was a small pack, but steadily growing, there were a few less here, I think, then had been here for Mistress Jaidah and yet we seemed more active now, busy, things going on all over the place and I liked that. There was always someone wanting to do something and it was nice I suppose. Not too many of us, not crowded and yet busy, each of us doing our own thing, coming together when we needed and I was alright with that. It was easy for me to be a good spy when I didn’t have to keep an eye on hundreds of wolves. Things had settled too, since whatever had happened in Diveen was fixed, the new King one I think I liked and one I planned to meet soon.
I had even come to kind of like my new Alphess. She didn’t say a lot, but she kept watch, she was always around, she minded her business and I minded mine and it was easy. As for the King, well, I’d be lying if I said I was alright with him. I don’t dislike him exactly, he has never done anything to me but I’m always a bit worried he’s going to. At least I’m on his side right? I’d much rather be with him then against him. He was an older male and at first I thought maybe he wouldn’t be all that successful. I knew about him of course, who didn’t know of the Black Prince? Then that female challenged him, the red and white one who had stayed here for awhile. She was younger, strong, in the prime of her life and he’d beaten her down so hard I guess, well, I had respect for that. He was powerful our King and in a way I felt content in that. Mistress Alphess was our leader, he was our protector and I liked that.
When I smelt someone on the border I paused, gold touched head tilting slightly, ears pricked forward as I turned to lope towards the new scent, long, long limbs carrying my light form smoothly across the earth until the gold of my eyes rested upon the sight of not one, but two males seated at the border. Two. That was new. I managed a grin of sorts all the same, bounding towards them with probably more enthusiasm then was needed but hey, this was my first border greeting, I wanted to do a good job. Maybe I was just a little enthusiastic in that but at least I was being friendly as I came to a stop before then, chocolate form all touched in gold seating myself before them now, glancing from one to the other before realising I really had no idea what to actually say.
“Ummm.”
Well I could have done better then that I suppose.
“I’m Galileo, this is Asteraia, can I like….help you? Do you think that sounded good? This is my first try at this after all.”
I grinned again, clearly rather pleased with myself.
