"Yes, we were going to go those places next" Bertie remarks as Gaiane lists off the stable, mews, and kennels. It is as if she is ticking off things on a mental checklist in a matter of fact manner. Maybe from a manual called "How to Help Your Clueless Fairy". Though William certainly had been only planning on going to the kennel to see if Luke was around. He had very little experience with dogs and hunting. It had been a sport for the rich in his time. "That sounds great, and yes, I do prefer to be outside" he responds with a shrug. It was not that he hated being outside, it was just that it was so dull, even if it made dealing with the weather easier. Besides, he really knew very little about cooking or cleaning and would probably more of a hindrance and annoyance to the current staff.

Despite her suspicions he had not yet gotten in the habit of talking to his familiar internally. Yes, he knew what she was feeling, as he knew what she was feeling, they just had a very different approach to dealing with things, even though they shared a soul. It was as if they had divided on a personality line, leaving Bertie with the abrupt self assurance of a creature self-justified, and William with the active, polite, nice, a little quiet guy he had usually portrayed to the world. As such she tended to sound a bit nonsequitor when inserting her own opinions and thoughts into the conversation. Maybe she was what he would sound like if he did not have a cognitive filter.

When she said the injury was technically from a man, he gave pause, focused on the word technically, and waiting for what it meant. He was not particularly brilliant at people skills, but he was trying not to jump to conclusions, which could lead to uncomfortable misunderstandings. William listened as she explained as briefly as possible that she was learning about self defense, due to a disturbance within her life. He frowned a little, he would hate the idea of harm coming to anyone, though realistically that happened all the time, and he had to admire the dedication it took to rise beyond what had happened and seek to better oneself because of it. He smiled at her laughter, though he was sure the statement was true. Fictional blades may cut deeper but actual ones left physical scars.

He is willing to move on with the conversation if she is so loathe to elaborate about her training. But he says "horses" at the same time Bertie says "birds". Typical. Of course she would choose the creatures she felt most comfortable around, though he had little formal training with them. Of course, he would probably be starting at entry level, since his experience with horses had also been minimal (if still more than his experience with hawks). The two rolled their eyes at each other. "We tend to have differences of opinion sometime. Conflicted emotion or something like that I suppose" William sighs. "Which would you suggest? Though I may still speak to both. Two options are often better than one." He looks at her, waiting for an opinion, like a confused driver at an intersection with signs in a language he is not sure he can read.
