Nyessa was not alone long before the thundering of tiny hooves reaches her tipped ears. Her eyes widen for a moment as she searches for the source of the noise out of her good eye. The dark chocolate eye rimmed with white glances around until it settles on a filly. Nyessa's ears pin against her arched nape as the filly rushes forward, but is surprised when she comes to a sliding halt. She regards the filly as she yells about a faerie king, then as soon as she had appeared she was gone. Nyessa raises her delicate head higher on her neck and watches with suspicion as the filly dissapears. What cursed island had she landed on?
Before she could process what had just happened a feminine voice breaks the silence. Nyessa wheels to meet the mare, her nostrils quiver as the mare's foreign scent assaults her nostrils. Hello? She looks at the mare, but hides her confusion. "Salam." Her tongue rolls with her formal greeting of the desert.
You're one of the desert horses, aren't you? Nyessa looks down her nose at the dark mare. "I am a desert horse, but none that you would know of, Kafir." She speaks in a matter of fact tone. Her good eye wanders over the mare, taking silent notes. This mare was a mutt, and if born in her desert would not of lasted a day. The desert was an unforgiving place, especially to those unfit to touch her sands.
I'm sorry about my daughter She swivels her dished face towards where the filly had disappeared. Of course, she was sorry. The words you are forgiven would not be spoken from Nyessa's dark lips. An egyption did not forgive easily. "Your daughter should be careful, there are more than dark shadows to fear." As if to prove her point, Nyessa turns her milky eye to the mare. This was given to her to strike fear into those who came across her.
