Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

sometimes a shadow wins


While her family was a rather large one Shiloh could not say that she was close to many of them. She adored her mother and her father, and all children should adore their parents. Her sister, Calliel, was loved simply because she was a sibling but she was not one with which Shiloh would choose to spend her time. They had not gotten along when Calliel was young and Shiloh too and despite the years that have grown between them, Shiloh is content in her life and among her people of the forest. She loved her cousin Guardian for he had been kind to her as a pup, even taking her along with him to swim in the waterfall, and she liked Starfall as well. Her brother Solaris was nice and he wasn't nosy, which she liked. He worked well as their Peacekeeper and she respected him for everything he had done, the name he tried to make for himself. But she was not apart of her family like some, never had she surrounded herself with their all-consuming love, and so she was not close to any of them in the way that Amoxtli and his siblings were.

Dexter is attentive to her, watching her with a probing sort of gaze and she does not turn from it. She lets her brother-in-law see the fire that rages within her blue eyes, that sets her teeth on edge and tenses her muscles. There is a fire in her family that runs through each of their veins and in some it comes out in the forms of those who are unabashedly vibrant - like Uncle Azrael or Calliel. In others it comes out like Shiloh, withheld, a secret sort of flame that can make one dangerous. Unpredictable. Family did not harm family and friends did not harm friends; whomever had done this foul deed simply could not be among them, she thinks, because it is unacceptable.

Maybe it is Dexter's words that take all the air from her so that she lets loose a resounding sigh, flames dimming in her eyes as she moves beside of him. Karma... she wonders if such a thing really is possible. If so, couldn't others use that as their excuse? Heyel got what was coming to him for all the blood he had shed? She steels herself from that thought, not wishing to delve into such philosophical things and just hoping that whomever had taken his life would also take the curse with it. "Let us hope that it does," she answers him in a sort of dry voice before smiling gently, trying to lighten the mood.

"I would love to see my mother but I think that I will not be leaving Taviora for a while, at least not until after the ceremony for me and your brother. I need to be here to show the pack that your brother and I, we are strong together. I do not want them to doubt him and I want to prove that I am worthy to be at his side." Her brows furrow at the thought before she glances at Dexter once more and with a sly grin, the same grin she often used on Amoxtli, and she steps sideways to bump her shoulder into his. "Don't worry Dexter, my sister will be here at our ceremony I'm sure. She doesn't leave mom and dad if she can help it." Oh she knows, as Shiloh knows many things, how much time they had spent together and it is obvious in the twinkling of her eyes.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
