This cave…smelled. It was the blood I suppose, thick and metallic and salty smelling, painting the walls and floor like someone had exploded as I attempted to turn my attention from it once more as I sat within the darkness. Why I was even looking for whoever had done this I don’t know, I mean, they didn’t really seem all that sane if blood paintings was their hobby but I suppose I was curious. There was a wolf here, I knew that much and it was my job to find what others would seek to keep hidden. In time I would become better at it, in time I would learn to find things of a far more secretive nature as I learned to better blend with the snow of winter and the light of the moon- assassin skills Heyel had not had the time to teach me before he died. Micteca, I was sure, would still hold that knowledge and still have something to share. I had Achilles to and Calliel, both apprentices of my grandfather and with his skills passed on. There was still so much work to do, though for now I was interested in this cave and this wolf whom seemed to be hiding, though why I hardly knew. My form remained tense, ready to run or leap if I needed and yet curious all the same as the red of my ears pricked forward at the sound of a voice that seemed to come from everywhere at once. Someone had found the right place to stand for an echo I suppose- my ears laying flat in response to the rolling noise. Maybe it was a bit scary but I was hardly going to admit that, features remaining neutral in an attempt to process the echoing words. Who goes there?
“Er, Hyrule?”
I’m not sure he….she actually, it sounds like a girl, was actually asking for my name or not, the violet gold of my gaze flicking about once more in search of this speaker. Who was it? What sort of game was this? If I had been afraid before I was simply…mystified now, assured this was a wolf playing a game with me and yet at the same time half believing it might well be some sort of spirit. Dare I pass? I think I managed to frown, head turning to look back at the cave entrance before peering back into the blackness ahead once more.
“Well- I’ve already passed it haven’t I? I mean, the doors back there, look you can see it. Would you rather I go back out so you can ask me again?”
I felt a chuckle rising on my lips now. I’m not sure I was supposed to find it amusing, I have always had quite the flare for sarcasm and irony however, tail waving good naturedly a moment, having failed to consider the potential spirit might not find it humorous at all before it spoke again. Hmm, evidently now I dare not leave. Alright then. I kept myself seated, ears pricked forward once now, their red hue faint in the half light of the cave and yet visible all the same as I waited for the spirit to speak again or offer some further sort of instruction- only to be met with silence.
“Who are you then? I told you who I was, it’s only fair.”
I have no idea, really, what to expect for an answer, one leg crossing over the other in my usual stance as I waited, head tilted slightly- still attempting to search among the dark rocks for the speaker…
