Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Blackfoot
male 5 years 36 inches 145 pounds no mate no imprint taviora

He was not a very competitive man, but when it came to his chosen arts, he was a perfectionist. So much to know and learn from plant-life that most never even considered for longer than to notice their prey ate of it. That was his starting point, after all, noticing the way his prey was growing strong and fat – that there were some who did not when they did not eat of certain plants. Strength in prey, then wondering at if he too could gain strength and instead finding that he was most certainly still too young to go experimenting without proper training and warning.

His people were much like those of Taviora, primal and family all at once. Native, if you will. It makes him especially fond of the leadership style of Amoxtli and his father, glad of someplace not entirely alien to him – although alien it was, these rumors of souls being sewn together.

He shouts excitedly to his Alpha, offering only submission despite his jovial tone and puppyish joy at working in his craft again. “”Blackfoot, I do have some time if you would like feel free to give it your opinion.” Comes the reply, his head lowered to offer no insult in the usual manner – seeming to spur the comments that came next. “No need to lower yourself. In Taviora we are friends and family. Equals in all rights. Now if you can Blackfoot I would appreciate the help you have to offer.”

In an instant, though it did feel strange enough it showed on his face, he stood properly, tail swung about his hocks and head tilted as his eyes snapped to the leg in question. Tendons. Muscle. Bleeding. Healing. He takes notes in his head in such speed that while Amoxtli contemplated his subject’s background, there was almost no hesitation in Blackfoot to whirl on his turtle shell cart and grab up the honey in an instant.

“So where are you from?” He is asked, and Blackfoot looks up with a silly look of realizing he might wish to first set the large broad leaves out for his items first. He does this without much ado, but speedily enough to answer promptly and not let the silence drag. “A no name country – because no one would think there was much world outside it . And it was vast, to be sure, but not vast enough for me. Not enough variety in company or plants. One pack to this world’s six, if you can believe it.” He shakes his head with a chuckle as he fetched tumeric and his little coconut shell of water to place on the giant lily pad beside a small clutch of eggs.

“I think it was a simpler place, and such a place has little need for my work. They did very little to heal anything more than what a simple cleaning would fix and rarely fought as I see this place encourages. The occasional young whelp would take a flying leap at a light-heeled elk, but it was so often damage that was only in Moon Mother’s hands to heal. I have found some remedies in my time, but a blow to the head by a hoof of nearly equal size cannot be easily helped with the right blow and pressure.”

He realizes fairly swiftly that he has been babbling without aim or goal and chuckled sheepishly. “Forgive me, I tend to speak especially meanderingly when I work. My home is far behind me and this one suits me better in nearly every way. Now,” he says by way of preparation, “I can see that you took quite the hit here. Pardon my intrusion,” and with a soft press of his nose to clearly tender flesh, he grows a concerned look on his face.

“It is warm, but not hot. I would suggest honey applied well into the wound to staunch bleeding, help speed healing, and to help with keeping infection and inflammation at bay…” He looks up to the male with something near to apology in his face, “but it will not feel very good in the application, I am afraid.” He sits back at last on his haunches and tilts his head in another way, seeming to work through a problem or two in his mind.

“Your connective tissue, too. That seems a little inflamed by how you walk… If at all possible, I would suggest more rest than not—but also a spread that I was taught to help these things heal in a more… accomodateable time, but also to allow the leg to remain unaggitated with bumps and rough walks...” He ruffles his fur, looking almost birdlike in his discomfort at asking a leader to do what would be against his nature.

“Chewing a bit of white willow would take care of some of the pain, but I could also go scouting for poppy if it got too much for the bark to help you… And perhaps some dandelion leaves, if you think you could keep hydrated without too much traveling.”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
