aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

~I hope you smile when you look down on me~

Her mottled knight was more than confused by her abrupt actions. The ashen girl blushed, but said nothing. She couldn’t apologize to Kalgalath without having to explain herself and she was far from ready to start that conversation. There was no casual way to explain herself and her budding desire, but she shook away her thoughts and focused on the King. His limbs unfolded allowing him to rise up and tower over her. The firs were far from touching Kalgalath making the ess feel that much smaller in comparison to her mottled knight. He closed the distance between them again as she tattled on about finding a new den, but Kalgalath’s furrowed brow told her that he was not keen on letting her go out just yet. “Are you sure that you are up to that today, Sebring? You can rest again today, if you wish instead. I can just get something for you to eat and you can rest here. I don’t want you to overexert yourself again. I…” Sebring frowned slightly as her knight’s crown turned away, a sigh escaping her maw, “…I worry about you.”

Sebring reached out and smoothed down his fur trying to reassure him that she was okay. She didn’t want him to worry about her, but she couldn’t help but smile inwardly at the thought. She giggled quietly and laid back down, her golden portals took in Kalgalath’s strong figure before her. She traced invisible lines around him with her eyes, watching the faintest twitch of muscle and shifting of fur. His lips turned up into a gentle smile as he sighed. He seemed almost confused but amused at her sudden changes in mood. He folded around her once again and the heat of his touch was instantaneous. Her nerves tingled with every minute change in their rhythms. Her breath slowed to match his and her heart beat syncopated with his. Sebring raised her cranium to Kal, but stopped short as he began to talk, “I cannot stay here the entire day, I am sorry to stay, but I can remain here for the morning. There are other pack members that I must attend to… not that I’m saying that you are just another pack member. That’s not what I meant to say… I just… I don’t like being absent from them for long.” His body was tense with agitation, his words were short and crisp. “I want to spend as much time with you as I can, Sebring. But I have responsibilities that must be fulfilled. But for now… it is just us.” Sebring lowered her head back to her paws, feeling slightly dejected. She couldn’t help the sadness that enveloped her, she didn’t want Kalgalath to leave but she was reminded that he had other responsibilities.

Sebring felt his encircling frame tighten around her, his nape wrapping around her. Sebring relaxed into his grip, her fur and bodice melding into his. It was like he didn’t want to let go, but his pack was calling him back to reality. “It’s alright Kalgalath, let’s just enjoy the time we have. I won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.” Sebring teased him lightly, she nuzzled him gently. She couldn’t leave him if she tried. There were too many strings attached for her, she owed him whether or not they became something more or not. “For as much as you have to return to your pack, I need to become more involved and get to know the others. But right now it’s just you and me…” Sebring felt herself coming unraveled, her strong words faded into hushed tones leaving an air of mystery to what that could imply. She wanted to explore her feelings with Kalgalath but if he left her now, would they reconnect? Or would she become another wolf among the pack members? The fear of the unknown was starting take over, but she resisted the urge to fall prey. She reigned in her thoughts waiting to hear from Kalgalath. Had she implied too much with her words? Sebring inhaled Kalgalath’s scent as she took in a breath, his earthly scent bringing her to a calmed state. “I never want to leave… you…” Sebring murmured into Kalgalath’s fur creating a muffled whisper, but it was all she could say to keep herself begging her mottled knight to stay by her side.

"They’re only baby scars," She whispers.
