Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

It is pleasant to find a companion who compliments her so well. There is no need for speech, when two minds are so alike. In some ways words were more a barrier than a communication tool. With two large wolves very little could stand in the way of either. Not that these are her concious thoughts as she cavorts with him, lifting paws high to playfully bat at his neck and leans forward to mouth his scruff, making small half growl half bark noises, previous reservations forgotten. She does not keep tabs on the world, living more for the now. She will take what she can and leave what she dislikes. Though nothing evil stirs in her mind, power is a drug unto itself.

Still young enough to follow those around her, and this male seemed to oblige, offering himself to her. For how long, who knew? In the back of her mind, Raptor knew she was growing up. Knew she no longer needed a mother, but might still need friends... and maybe something more. It tickled the back of her brain, this instinct, though a clear thought could not be formed. Soulmates is probably a strong word. But wolves are supposed to be together, and while she may have no desire to live in a pack, she did have a desire to not be alone.

What did it matter, if they were possessive of each other? A bit scary to others who might cross their path, but in the long run more rewarding than being attached to none. Her feelings towards his sudden intrusion into her life were still a bit mixed. She watches carefully as she plays with him, trying to figure out what could have drawn him to her. Certainly, not what she had said or signaled. It must be some unseen signal, that she had missed the first time around, being younger than the male. Her tail swings low, accepting of his presence, a relaxed smile on her muzzle, eyes studious but entrapped within his. It might be a bit new, but so much was often new, not everything new could be bad.
