Laughter sent a look of confusion to Kobato’s facial features. She stepped back slightly, allowing the other woman room. No Kobato, very soon I will look like a whale and be much worse tempered. Kobato tilted her head to the side, not sure if she understood, and toffee portals crinkled at the sides as she tried to figure it out. Put the puzzle pieces together. A female. Smelling of Kershov. Aches and pains. Looking like a whale. Bad temper. A lightbulb dinged above Ko’s skull. Oh. Pregnancy. The fae, meanwhile, didn’t look so good. The prisoner licked her dry lips swiftly. …Kobato. Her auds pricked forwards, attention on the femme once again. And that’s when panic surged in craploads. The pregnant doe’s eyes had dilated right there in front of Kobato’s gaze. You aren’t a healer by chance, are you? The girl’s mouth went dry and her tongue felt like sand paper. She most certainly was NOT. Not in that sense at least. But if there was one thing she knew how to do, it was how to dull pain, how to stop bleeding and how to deliver babies. Crazy how the stupid world worked. I, um, sort of? She spoke swiftly, catching the way Kershov’s female curled in on her herself and growled. But I think Kershov would be a better advocate for this, don’t you? I can-- Kobato shut herself up when the Valkyrie looked up, flattening her ears in a bit of either shyness or regret? Whatever it was, it came with a voice. False alarm.
Kobato exhaled seconds later, forcing herself to relax. Okay, well at least I know it’s a possibility now… She smiled gently and settled herself next to the nameless woman. Probably closer than she should be but whatever. Thank you, Kobato, you’re a good friend. Kobato winced a bit, but smiled still. A friend or a prisoner? Um… I have a question. Since it’s been worrying me a bit. I’ve been here for a while now. And… Oh fuck. This was awkward. But this woman would be the only one to approach about it. Especially since she was 1) pregnant 2) a woman and 3) a “friend,” if it was okay to use the word so soon. The desert rose girl bit down on her lip and then exhaled, closing her eyes tight, her voice low just in case Kenshin be close by. This is weird to ask and I’m sorry about that but really you’re the only one I can go to. But if I’m getting dizzy more than ever, feeling sick more often, and having to pee more than I should be based on the amount of water I’m drinking—does that mean there’s a possibility that… She swallowed. A possibility of pregnancy? Kobato peeked out from under her lashes. And in a hushed whisper she continued, fear practically coming off her cloak as she looked around in a paranoid fashion. Because if there is that chance, then I know I don’t have much longer until I start showing more physically visible signs and, no offense, I do NOT want to give birth in a pack that I’m a prisoner of. Kobato was terrified beyond belief now. Frantic, if that was the word for it. I mean, Vladya and I did… well.. and if there is any chance at all that I’m going to be a mother any time soon, I need to be ready to figure out what I’m going to do about it. I don’t want to be killed, I do not want Vladya to be killed…. But I especially do not want any younglings killed. Please, please… Her voice was betraying her now, and that smile had all but gone. She searched this female’s gaze, hoping to god she was wrong and was just overreacting. And then she blinked quickly, laughing in a non-humored way as she sucked in a breath. Look at me…. I don’t even know your name and I’m ganging up on you to know what you know. I’m so sorry…
