The fae was glad when she heard the pup's tiny foot falls upon the earth behind her, running to keep up with her long strides. She hid her smile, pretending that she had been sure all along that he would follow her. She had suspected it, as he had seemed intrigued and curious about all she had told him, especially about becoming stronger, but there had been no way to be sure. The life she was presenting him was not one that could be forced upon him. Obviously there were some slaves in Abendrot - their lives were forced upon them, but they did not hold the same position as the one that Lupin would when he was fully trained. They were slaves - torture dolls - play things. Lupin would be a warrior. As they travelled, the bruteling broke the silence with his tiny voice, high pitched as he had not yet reached maturity and his vocals had not yet dropped. So if I am to be your protégé, what am I supposed to call you? Halina cocked her head, dark azures peering down at him, her stride pausing for a step.
"You may call me whatever you feel comfortable with. Be it 'teacher', 'sensei', 'ma'am', or 'mother', it does not matter to me. I will be your teacher and sensei in and of the fact that I will be your mentor. 'Ma'am' is a term of respect, and as I am your elder, that will also be appropriate, as will 'mother', as you will be in my care and I will be responsible for you. Do not think, however, that that means I will go easy on you or baby you. I will likely be the one to push you the hardest." She nodded when she was finished speaking, resuming her motion toward home. She had recently adopted another pup, Ace, and her relationship with him would be different. He was weak and needed to be comforted, watched, nurtured. This pup would not be allotted those luxuries... or were they hinderances?
When at long last they reached the edge of Abendrot, Halina addressed him and waited for the pup's response. This was the point of no return for him. Abandoning Abendrot had fatal consequences, and failing in Abendrot could be just as painful. Failing... was not really an option here to begin with. After moments of silence, the pup moved up next to her and Halina called out, waiting for another wolf to respond. Briefly, her ambitious mind wished that she herself was ranked and therefore able to accept strangers herself, but she knew that she had not yet earned that honor yet. Kershov had not been using her, for he had been graciously allowing her to heal from her poisoning. Finally, she was fully healed, or at least as healed as she ever would get. A pasty scar on her front limb was the only external sign that remained from Draven's attack... but there was so much more on the inside.
While they waited, the ess started to plan out her training strategy in her mind. He needed to put on weight first... so it would start with catching prey for himself. She would make him catch only small prey - it would cause him to have to hunt at least every day, if not twice per day, therefore forcing him to exercise and teach him humbleness and respect for the larger prey. It would also teach him dexterity, for while they did not usually offer counterattacks, they were wiley and often were not far from their dens. "Tell me, Lupin, have you been taught anything yet?" She would need to divulge this information and either use it as a tool to build upon (if she was lucky), or have to force him to forget anything taught improperly and start from the beginning again.
