Treading tentatively, Asche headed into the edge of the jungle with nervous anticipation. He'd heard the sound of unfamiliar footsteps, and with them being so close to the thick jungle that coated the majority of the Island, he knew that caution was better used than not. Anything could hide in the thick palms and vines - predators with sharp fangs, foreign stallions with a greed in their hearts that brought them out to hunt for his mares - his family. He had to protect them.

He followed the noise towards a crystal pool that he occasionally visited to rest and cool himself after his patrols or journeys to the crossing island. There, a dark mare stood, lips skimming the crystalline water softly and tresses falling about her like an ebony waterfall. He approached with the same nervousness he held as he had followed her - stalking through the dense underbrush with light feet, ready to dart away, while still wishing to give off a comforting air - the last thing he wished for was to appear a threat himself.

It was just odd, he thought, to find somebody in his territory for the first time, who already seemed so familiar with it.

"Greetings," he cleared his throat, halting some way behind her, far enough to avoid a kick if caused her to be startled. "What brings you to the Ridge?" he asked, craning his neck to the side in an attempt to see the expression on her dark face, yet his legs did not stir - distance for now would do them well.
