The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

We laughed at fate and mourned her;

Where there is Life there is Death. Since the day we breathe our first breath Death observes in the shadows waiting until the time was just right. As our heart continued its twitter patter Death would lie in wait patiently until the moment was right. Sometimes Death would take a Life at such a young age, because Fate ordered it to. Other times Death would wait for almost an eternity for the aging victim, relishing in the delight of taking such an old soul. Whether a creature was strong or weak, new or old, healthy or sickly, every creature met their end in one way or another. Naturally Tick Tock was born to destroy and she did so beautifully. She was built to take down the weak and she did as Nature always demanded of her – relying solely on her instincts and that clever mind. Those of her kind may not like her for what she does, and yet, there was not a damn thing anyone could do about. It had been awhile since she had stalked her kind and she was finding that delectable piece of meat far too hard to ignore. Within Asteraia she was accepted and no wolf would dare accuse her of doing something horrendous. Outside of her home she was vulnerable, and so, she had to hunt carefully.

It was true she could have ate the food the pack provided her or the food Tobias would bring to their lair. Yet she wanted to do something for herself for the moment, alone. Taking care of little ones and constantly being around her kind was quite an exhausting task for a Mother. She left the fields for only a few hours wishing to stretch her legs slightly and see if perhaps she could not only gather a snack, but a new member or two. Having Tobias as her partner in rank may have deterred potential wolves, and yet she did not care, because if they could not accept him then they had no business calling the fields home. Her pack was a sanctuary for wolves like her, for wolves like Tobias, and for wolves that were not like them at all, but unique and special in their own way. There was a reason why a wolf chose the life of solitude rather than chain themselves to a pack, and she would provide that wolf a different alternative – where they could live in a pack and be themselves. It may sound unorthodox. Then again everything about he and the others that lived there could meet that qualification. Weakness was something she could not, and would not, tolerate and anything lesser that was in front of her would be obliterated. Speaking of weakness there within a certain part of the caves was the den of a Mother...an absent Mother.

Ebony pelt melted perfectly within the shadows as the sun began to rise. She had been wandering around within the winding tunnels of the caves content to mobilize within this particular environment. For a while now she was following the trail of a new Mother pleased to taste the scent was stale. It was a shame that this particular Mother seemed incapable of protecting and keeping her young safe. Tick Tock had ensured that the creatures she had with Tobias would always be safe and sound whether she was there or not. No one within her ranks would dare touch the pups. Tobias’s mate, Flare, was an excellent wolf to keep close, the white and red wolf would protect the cubs faithfully. Nakato lived near their cave and she would be an excellent second pair of eyes warning Cuirass and the other wolves should danger arrive. Her pack was strong even with her gone and it pleased the Alpha to know she could actually rely on her pack. Slowly the cannibalistic she-wolf crouched low as she exited the mouth of the cave following the Mothers’ trail that would eventually lead her to the nearby den that was not hidden so well. Crouching slowly she lifted her dial tasting the scent of the tender flesh as her ears pricked forward at the sound of their mews. Naturally she should want to care for the young wolf pups, just as she would to her own, and yet they were not hers. Their Mother had left them and so Fate would allow Tick Tock to be the punisher and teach the Mother a lesson. Within the den were the squirming pups all huddled together. Without remorse her jaws widen and swiftly she took their lives, forever stopping their hearts and momentarily filling her stomach. Walking over the dead pups she would turn around with her face turned towards the open mouth of the den, dark sapphire eyes glittering within the sunlight that barely peeked in. Lowering her dial she began to pick and tear open one of the dead pups, keeping an eye on the mouth of the den, already deciding that she would bring one of the pups back for her companion.
