Free My Soul

The little girl held her breath in excitement. Never had she been on such an adventure! Taika had taken her through the Peak, and had gotten them in trouble. Jetta took her on strolls, but never too far from their mother. This was something different entirely. This was all new, and Strack was introducing her to a strange new world! He had been so kind to her, she trusted him to lead her true, no fear of anything that could happen to them. He even offered to let her hold onto his tail through the deeper water. Adelheid puffed out her chest and held her head high. She did not need to hold on to anything for this! But her small black body did attach itself close to him, still a little fearful of being taken under.

On the other side of the falls the sight took her breath away. The grass came up far closer to her shoulders than it did to the stallion’s knees. For a moment she stared in shock, her soaking wet body dripping in the grass. Eyes and ears took in everything around her in stunned silence. Small heart swelled with the wonder of what she was looking at. The mist of the falls covered the long grasses in the small droplets. Whenever the sun briefly shined through it lit the cove in a brilliant array of rainbows and reflections. The emerald of the grass was intensified by the light spectrums. Voice taken away with her breath, the young Friesian maiden stepped further into the hidden field. If this was the glory of the magic her friend and sister saw, she envied their visions.

“I see the rainbow, in flashes! I see water in the sky!” She whinnied her glee and began to prance in the grasses, throwing her hooves into the air in her found joy. “This must be the magic they were talking about! She pranced around, her body getting even wetter as the mist settled on her. Returning to Strack she touched his shoulder with her ever soft nose. You showed me this! She grinned up at him with her blue blue eyes. So far in her life all she had heard was ‘no’ and ‘you shouldn’t have done that.’ This stallion was the first one who told her it was okay, and showed her the beauty in the world. She stepped back and huffed a sigh. Maybe instead of her taking him to the Peak and claiming him as her’s, he could steal her and let her keep seeing this magic. But she did not think that was how the world worked. And her mom would probably say ‘no.’
