I saw the demolition as applying to both the eating of the carrot and the disproving of the proposition. The latter was one I'd never come across despite my philosophy course at university.
Definitely one of Schadenfreude's gentler puzzles, though not without a characteristic trap. The SHERD/SHARD trap was very neat, because if you opted for the wrong one, your mistake would not be revealed by the endgame, as SHANDS is also a word.
Very enjoyable, as is Dave Hennings' animation that Gail refers to.
