NJAA to give 50 minute jai-alai demonstration to Saint Pauls School in Clearwater this Wednesday Posted on October 5, 2015 at 03:13:36 PM by Jeff "Laca" Conway
The NJAA will be giving a 50-minute demonstration to about 160 kids from the second to seventh grades at Saint Paul's School, a private Episcopal school located in Clearwater, this Wednesday afternoon.
Joining Laca will be ex-pro players Goitia and Scott King who will give a demo to the kids on how to throw the ball. The second graders will all get a chance to throw the ball (a soft, white rubber one!) against the gymnasium wall.
Before the throwing exhibition, a power point prepared by Mark K will be shown on a large screen as well as the 15 minute video "This is Jai-alai".
The kids will be able to put on child cestas to learn the sport and throw against padded walls. Goitia and King will also be able to throw a few rockets against the wall before the kids take over.
The Spanish teacher of the school asked us for the demonstration as part of the their celebration of Hispanic Heritage this month. We will post photos and video of the event later this week. Replies: There have been no replies.
