Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

It was as though her thoughts had summoned him.

His scent wreathed about her, disturbing her slumber so that her eyes flickered open to a mirage of him standing on the riverbank, his red eyes watching her as she sat. He made no move to speak or approach her, merely bathed in her presence, charcoal hues exciting her memory so that she was given to stand. Water slid from her silken pelt in rivulets, disturbing the skin of the river and sending the curious little fish flashing back into their hideouts. With an unhurried manner, she shook herself, sending droplets sailing through the air like rain, before wading to the bank, pulling herself up onto the shore a few tail-lengths to his left.

Once standing, she turned to Elohim and grinned, her tail wagging with the pleasure of seeing him again. No surprise was evident on her features, as though she had been expecting his company, and she began to circle him slowly, licking her lips with appreciation. It had been far too long since she had enjoyed the companionship of wolves she could stand, and the dark boy's arrival had come none too soon. Her face was twisted into a rather lusty expression, the same one she wore when in the company of Zagan although, from her last meeting with him, she did not think Elohim would recognize her intentions. Regaining control of herself and not wanting to scare him, she settled to her haunches on his right side, still facing him, and smiled broadly, her beautiful voice ringing like music from her throat, “Ah, my friend. It has been too long since our last hunt together. What a pleasure to see you!”

The last time she had laid eyes on him in the semi-darkness of the Grotto, he had been but a lanky pup, and she no more than he. Now, her eyes rested on a sleeker version of what he would fill out into, strength and prowess apparent on his rather regal features. His colouring too, called to her, for every wolf of whom she had been fond had shared such shadowy hues. Only the silvery lines on his face were unique, different, and she was more drawn to him for this, as she was drawn to Lonhro for his pelt, and Zagan for his eyes. Her own cosmic orbs glimmered as she batted her eyelashes his way, her curvaceous figure sultry even for one of her age. She could not excuse the feelings in her breast, as she had harbored them even from birth, but she explained them away as being present only because she yearned for the full experience of being mortal, and love (as well as the physical ramifications of love) electrified her more than anything else could, especially since she had no desire to lead or fight. She waited patiently for his response, her aroma heady with inexplicable longing, and yet tempered by a lack of knowledge. It would be Elohim's own actions and reactions which would see the direction their unplanned meeting would take.
