Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

I saw a shooting star and wished for you

I sang a lullaby by the waterside and knew

Ivory incisors tear at the remnants of the silvery fish, it is a small meal but she eats it with ferocious pride, she had caught it and so it was special prize that she would relish. The warm summer air dries her dark pelt the darkening skies blending the blonde in with the browns except for the places where it they are the thickest and with the wind comes a scent foreign to her. A pink tongue slides out across her muzzle as her earth toned skull is pulled back to watch a wolf approach. For so long it had been the three of them, she, her mother, and brother, on the run trying to escape the nefarious clutches of her father that it had become almost second nature to be vigilant and attentive around the unknown. Her mother had taught her early on to be leery of strangers and so she makes sure to keep her eyes on the older wolf as she approaches, chewing slowly on a bite of the fish as she does.

For a moment her body tenses when it becomes clear she is the strange wolf's intended target, the fish was not something to fight for and every past experience so far had taught her that strangers would attack. Casimir would've wanted them to leave instantly but she is optimistic, her mom said things were different here and ever hopeful, she was willing to try and believe that maybe they were. Only when the stranger stops does Isaerys lets her muscles loosen and her entrancing eyes, made of swirling vibrant opalescent green and blues that seemed to shine against her dark fur, stare inquisitively at the foreign wolf until she spoke.

The surprise she hears in the female's voice and the coupled challenge are perhaps the perfect combination to relax the high strung adolescent, she wants to make friends, to know others, too hear their stories and if the past had not taught her to be leery there undoubtedly would have been no hesitation in the her in first place, she was much like her mother in that regard. Letting go of her fears when a playful challenge is presented is simply too much for her to resist, even though her brother seems keen on forgetting, they were still puppys only two years into their lives, this was the time for fun. Fear forgotten and sense of achievement returned, Isaerys grins broadly, her pride worn clearly across her darkly colored face and ringing out in her singsong voice . “Yes i did and fine no problem.” Previous frustration at the patience testing hunt forgotten Isaerys is entirely caught up in trying to show what she could do, she’d stand in that river all night if she had too. “It might take a second though.”

Abandoning what little remains of the fish the earthy toned girl with her blonde dipped tail moves to stand in the chilly river once more, reveling in the heat relieving waters as she finds the right place to stand. Already overgrown legs allow her to stand in deeper waters than some shorter wolves or puppies her own age, she likes deeper waters it usually means bigger fish, and she gets herself into position, legs locked, unmoving and her muzzle pointed down ready to strike at any moment. They swim by in an array of eye catching colors but she tries to keep her eyes focused on just the ones that swim into her target zone and begin to linger closer. It takes time but this time she has more motivation, even though she doesn’t even know this wolf's name she had the urge to prove herself. Its quiet for a time her attention so enthralled on the fish below, and she wouldn’t risk making sound too scare them even though with every minute that passes more questions for this stranger begin to collect in her head.

Finally it happens, one of the slippery creatures floats lingers close, its the perfect distance away from her front paws the silvery creature stopped to nibble a strand of green algae floating from a rock no idea its life was about to end. Already open and waiting jaws are shoved into the tepid waters and snap shut the moment they feel the wriggling flesh between them. Triumphant she pulls her once again dripping skull back showing off her prize to the golden crowned wolf. Wading out of the water she keeps her jaws locked on the squirming morsel unwilling to let it escape back into the murky depths, her dark body moves past the old fish and closer to the other female. Yet she stops a few feet away hesitation clear in her body and in her bright oceanic eyes, that still seemed to glow even though there were barely any rays of sun left poking over the horizon. But it only lasts a moment before she breaks the distance to drop the fish at the wolf feet, clearly a gift, before retreating a comfortable distance away. “So what’s your name?” She start easy.

If you were here, I'd sing to you

Miles away from seeing you I can see the stars

ISAERYS
I wonder, do you see them, too?
