Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Sila
i can feel the thunder that’s breaking in your heart
She is an infallibly quiet thing more often than not, content to bask and daydream rather than explore the endless sea of rocks and grass that encompass Spirane. It is an odd thing then when she decides to venture towards the unspoken boundaries, not only those of her mother's making but the boundaries set by their leader, too. She is curious about them, after all, particularly as she knows her brothers and her sister have been to such a place. She knows she has older siblings beyond those borders, too, and the fact only intensifies her curiosity. With the coming of fall, it is the leaves too that do it. Beyond the mountain, she can see the forests as they turn from green to shades of golden and brown. It cannot be helped, or so she will tell herself.

And so, it is the morning when she ambles down the mountainside and into the forests that pepper the riverside. She moves with the river, drawn to its flowing waters as they babble beside her, her small paws dancing along the rocks and sand as she revels in the newness of it all. The sky is as clear as ever and, in fact, she cannot help but notice it is a truly beautiful day; clear skies, a gentle breeze, the sudden freeness that she never knew she lacked. It is a fun thing and yet, she cannot help but feel at least a little disheartened by her lack of preparation. It might have been fun to bring Isa, after all. Her sister always had a way of making fun. Her brothers? Well, let's just say they had left her behind one too many times for her liking!

With such thoughts, she was in her own world as she ambled along further south. It was only when an upwind breeze brought the thick stench of bog to her nose that she stopped, reeling back several paces in surprise. Though she could not see the swamps, she instinctively knew she had come too far from her borders. In fact, she was quick to notice that the sun had shifted more than expected too. Surely, and it was a thought that made her panic, by the time she returned home, it would be dark! That was not good. She cannot help but swallow the hard knot of nerves that has formed in her throat. For a moment, though, she is entirely dazed and confused. It is too much newness, she thinks, too much unknowing. Where is she really?
