The last time she brought a new life into this world she was forced to raise it by herself. As a first time Mother she wasn’t quite sure what she should be doing or not doing anything. Chael had come for the birth of Raven, the child he so desperately wanted, and after that he left her. That would not happen again. Although she knew Tobias was different from the rest, but she felt it was absolutely necessary that he at least learn and understand that they were his children. She stood quietly watching him carefully how he began to approach closer to the mewing children. Naturally she felt the need to protect them, especially when she noticed the saliva dripping from his jaws, she knew exactly what he was thinking. Nevertheless she wanted to take as much chance as she could so that he would learn and see that they were not to be eaten, they were theirs. Bringing her muzzle, covered with the scent of their children, she wanted to slowly teach him, show him, bring him into an understanding the only way perhaps he would know and understand. To hear him utter the word that shows he understand his new possessions, a slow nod approval was given, as she drew her muzzle away from his own.
Exhausted from standing for too long after going through the painstaking task of motherhood the heavily scared female laid down beside their children, still allowing Tobias a full viewpoint of them. Tucking her head over her paws she let out a heavy sigh, dark sapphire eyes looking from him towards the entrance of their den, knowing that his time with her would be short. Tonight they should have spent their time alone, bonding over the two pups, and yet this monumental occasion was destroyed. Hearing him speak their daughter’s name she nodded her head quite pleased to see that something she said may have gotten across from him, hopefully so, because she was trying to. It was the movement of his tongue sliding over his muzzle that caused her thick ebony fur to rise up. She would not attack at him, he hadn’t done anything wrong yet, but she was not afraid to put herself at risk if it meant their own would survive their first night. As his raspy voice begins to drawl out an odd sounding word she stared at him, blinking only once, until a small smile appeared on her maw.
“I like your choice, Gunsynd is a good name, Tobias.”
They say there is meaning behind a name. Whatever purpose was for Tobias naming the boy Gunsynd, she would not ask, finding pleasure in knowing he at least understood what she asked of him – or so it looked. Whether or not he understood her or not it didn’t matter, at least they were trying. Gently her muzzle would stroke the backs of the shadowy hued pups, feeling a peculiar sensation run through her. Perhaps it was the fact that she respected her imprint that she had allowed their bond to develop. For the first time, in a long time, Tick Tock felt as if everything was finally right in her life. She had a pack she cared for, she had built a family, and she was finally able to feel as if she could fall this place as home. As he lowers himself to the ground she begins to stretch her neck over to him, gently pressing her muzzle into his own, finding herself quite content to touch him. Dark sapphire eyes looked over at his dark emerald gaze and she would stare at him long enough until she finally had his attention. With a soft whisper, that no one but Tobias alone could hear, she admitted a part of herself no one else within Moladion had the pleasure of knowing.
“My name is Tick Tock...and you are the first to know my name, and I’d like you not to tell others.”
He may not understand the significance of trusting him to provide him her name, but she hoped at least he would remember it. He was not a wolf that talked a lot and perhaps he wouldn’t utter her name aloud to others. They say that giving others’ your true name, provides the other to have power of them, and Tick Tock was hoping she could trust Tobias enough. Everyone throws out their name to anyone and Tick Tock wanted to trust the one that would have power over her. Always she was a dominant creature, but she could not continue going on living without having at least another wolf to trust, another wolf to call as her equal. Eventually she would tell her pack her name, but right now she wanted to provide Tobias an unknown special treatment. With a gentle nuzzle she would move her muzzle away from his own and place them beside their young, sighing in content. Gently she would remind Tobias as their task to be parents, but also to be Alphas before he had to leave her to defend their home.
“They are small, but they are strong. They are healthy...and we must protect them and keep them safe. I know you can keep them safe Tobias.”
