The girl was glad that she had found someone out here that was, so far, proving quite easy to get along with. Samus gave her another toothy grin, her tail wagging in the way that a happy puppy's did. "I think ya have a good chance a' scarin' 'im off!" she said with a wink. Samus had no idea of her relation to her new friend, having never had met her multitude of cousins that currently besieged the mountain.

"Okey dokey then, Nym, it's nice to meet ya. So what-" the inky-black pup was about to inquire about further adventure, but a rustling in the bushes caught her attention first. Samus couldn't quite determine why her fur was standing on end all of the sudden, or why she felt a growl bubbling in her throat- it wouldn't be a very fierce one, but it was that thought that counted-, or why the air felt like it had suddenly just... changed. She turned towards the source of the noise just in time to see the dark adolescent charging through the bushes and straight at them, teeth bared. With barely any time to react, Samus jumped backwards. "N-Nym! Hey, you leave her alone, ya fuckin' prick!" she barked, using some of the naughtier words she had picked up on- that would intimidate him, right?

It didn't seem so. She let out that growl that had been building in her throat as she saw the black creature turn upon her, uncertain of Nymeria's fate for now. Samus hoped that her inaction hadn't caused severe injury to her newfound friend. But she was built for speed, she wasn't a powerhouse, and this wolf was so much bigger.

Samus rolled out of the way, just in time for her to avoid being caught in the beast's jaws, but unfortunately she wasn't quite fast enough. Several gashes from the wolf's sharp teeth were scored across her neck and back. The sudden pain left her in shock and she managed to roll over once more to avoid leaving her vulnerable belly exposed. She only hoped that Nymeria could distract him for long enough so she could get to her feet.
