Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

JACKDAW
eight ^ no heart ^ homeless

ONWARD TO HOME!

Except this was not his home. Jackdaw stretched his sleek legs as he arose from a recent nap. Traveling had a way of sucking the energy from him, not least of all the many miles he had traveled. It was a way of life but this vagabond was fast growing tired of it. He did not wish to turn around and retreat to lands that had birthed him, to the mother who didn't really care of he came or went and the mother that he didn't really, honestly, care for. Nothing familial tied him to her and his only other sibling, a sister, had taken off before he had. At times he wondered why he had not been born a panther, with those powerful muscles and envious claws? It certainly seemed his family enjoyed the same mentality. While his parents had been mates they preferred solitude, seeking each other out only during times of extreme hunger, loneliness, or when the hormones were kicking. And in his family, the hormones were an extreme thing.

The crunch of leaves was a signalling song that the warmer days were almost over. He was so far from anything he had ever known that Jack did not know how this land would fare during the winter months. Even a decent hunter had a rough time during the lean months and a renegade had even less. It was possibly time to settle down into a pack, at least for the time being, but he first had to make sure that the wolves here were.. sympathetic to his lifestyle. Loners were not welcome in many places he had visited. He had resorted to stealing a bit of one pack's leftovers only a week prior and had been chased for many miles. It was an unpleasant situation all around but he had felt a secret sort of pleasure when he had sneered over his shoulder at their retreating figures.

It is safe to say that he was a bit selfish in some regards, a throwback to his parenting perhaps, and mildly vain at times. A charmer, yes, but not quite a rake.

The grass is about as high as his shoulder here, waving back and forth and leaving annoying burrs in his splendid fur. It would take much grooming to remove them and he was positive that his neck would ache afterwards but what could he do? Still, the closer her came to the lake the shorter the grass and then it turned into sand. Jack moves to sit near the water so that it touches his paws, tail curled around his side as silver-blue eyes survey the shoreline and find it empty. What sort of place is so without life? Perhaps the other wolves were hidden in the tall grass, an annoyance in itself, and Jackdaw needed to scope out this land. To learn more so he can decide whether to stay or move on.

Shaking out his fur with a quick throw of his head, he lifts his muzzle and lets out a lovely melody, calling forth any who is around.
