The Grotto
Disaster has struck!

The wolf seems to be very observant, much more than I gave him credit for. His hackles rise and I tilt my head some in curiosity. The wolf moves almost to mirror me, tilting his own head as he moves toward me, his nose twitching as he tries to pick up any telling scents. It won't be long before he figures out that I'm from Asteraia and from there, I'm sure he'll make his own opinions about me. It's no secret that Asteraia tends to house wolves of a whole different breed, wolves that hunt and even eat their own kind. I happen to be one of those, though I'm still what you'd call new to the whole experience and since I'm still growing, I have to chose my prey carefully so I don't get in over my head. Wolves are not so easy to hunt as deer. I know the moment he picks up on my homeland smell because his hackles rise and tremble in response. He's definitely on alert now. My lips twitch in humor but I hold my ground, my tail flicking once as I wait to see what happens. I don't know if he's run across any wolves of Asteraia before and if he knows what I may have been doing in the shadows but he's definitely wary of me. I almost feel honored that an older wolf would find reason to be cautious around me. So this must be a taste of what it will be when I'm a full fledged Orthos of Asteraia, the head warrior and defender of the plains. He responds to my question and I shrug lightly and nod. "Fair enough." He then smiles and seeks to tell me that he's met both the king and queen of my pack. My eyes widen a bit in more interest. It seems he must have a taste for darkness too for the alpha to think him worthy of the plains. I tilt my head again. "And you had reason to say no?" I'm curious as to what outsiders think of our pack. I watch his hackles smooth back down and my lips crinkle in a smirk, glad to see him relaxing somewhat. At his question, I chuckle dryly under my breath, ears flickering as my blue eyes light up. "I guess I could." I let him continue and now my interest is definitely peaked. Now here is a wolf that speaks my language! At his words, my muscles practically ripple in anticipation. "By the curiosity in your voice, I'd say there's still a chance we could be brothers in arms. I'm willing to take this test since you offered so kindly. I'll even let you go first." I smirk that much wider, my eyes glimmering slyly as I widen my stance defensively and wait for his next move.
