A sound broke through the shadows and they slithered away to the corners of her vision, where they usually hid. They were always there, bits of movement in the corner of her eye. Yet the movement was different from the movement of the real world. She could easily separate the two, though she could not choose which she saw more clearly.
She blinked once, more slowly than usual, and once she had opened her eyes, they had resumed their normal status, yellow flecks against a violet backdrop. And he is before her, his dark coat almost making him like a shadow himself. She stood easily, not wanting to meet this stranger in as vulnerable a position as she had been in. He may be her imprint, but he was a stranger none the less. More than that, he did not smell of any pack. Loners usually held their own rules, making them far more dangerous than a pack wolf. Then again, she could easily say the same of herself. While she had returned briefly to Diveen to be reunited with her parents, she found no real reason to remain there. Had Isola still held the throne, she may have remained, but she knew little of Achilles, despite their blood relation. And so, she was also a wolf of the unclaimed lands.
“You are my imprint,” she said simply. There was no real emotion to her statement, she was simply professing a fact. She had no ties to anything right now save her family. Nor did she have any ties to the strange male before her, despite the fact that the sight of him pulled at her soul.
“I am Iophiel,” she said. Her voice had lost the rough edge it had held when she first returned to these lands. Regular conversation had cured it, and it had returned to its former lilt. Her head tilted slightly as she gazed at him, studying his features, though she could not say what she was looking for.
