Pine, spruce and firs alike...

Having your soul connected to another was a different sort of feeling, and no doubt for some it was disconcerting, but for him it was a lot like coming home. To him she was the both the earth and the sky, she was the new gravity of his world and at the same time she opened open his world to endless possibilities of a life he might not have even dreamed of before. It is all of that combined with the intensity of her emotions, as if he is feeling them himself, that drives him to close the small distance between them. He only touches her when he sees no disapproval in her deep eyes, but the feeling of actually touching her was euphoric. The rough wash of his tongue over the salty tears of her face was like a cleansing rain and he could feel it as much in her soul as he could his own. Her voice is thick as he settles back down before her, the sound bringing a soft smile to his rugged features before she questions him.
She seems pleased with his answers, and it is that jolt of excitement he feels within her that he feels able to hope that perhaps the fates would not be so mean as to take her from him. It allows him to ask his own questions, holding out the hope that she would in fact not yet have a mate to call her own. She nods and he can feel his heart skip a beat before her musical voice fills the air and makes heat blossom in his heart like never before. Light dances in his navy eyes, almost alight with curiosity as he watches her move… move toward him of all things! He holds still, as if he might somehow manage to scare her off otherwise as she reaches out to press her creamy cheek into his own wiry fur.
That moment felt like everything finally clicked into place as he closed his eyes and gently pressed his own nose into her velveteen fur. Breathing deeply he simply let the rest of the world fade away, until all he knew was her intoxicating scent and the beating of their two hearts. It all seemed so surreal, and ended too soon as she pulled back with a quiet chuckle. He let out a breathy laugh all his own as she starts to apologize,
The rest of her words were rather hurried and he thought beneath all that fur she might even be blushing. She ended with her question, however, and before he answered he leaned forward to brush the wiriness of his fur against her own once more.
