"Your name shall be carved into legend once my Sword has carved into your chest." ~Song Of Achilles
I know that I do not have the full support of my pack to come here for an alliance. The alpha herself may have been a friend to my pack and my parents, to Heyel himself perhaps. Her chosen king is a whole other story. Tobias has done nothing but haunt our family in the past, taking Heyel's own daughter and making her disappear before he came back to attack vulnerable puppies. Heyel himself was supposed to be the end of the black demon but Tobias managed to skip by with only a scar to his throat. Nobody in Diveen would forget the face of Tobias and I'm sure his mate Flare has made a mark on wolves of my pack as well. It's no secret that she's been hunting helpless pups in the free lands for years so I'm sure a member of my pack has run into her a time or two. Just it seems the alpha would hold me responsible for the actions of my own pack members, so too must she remember that her own pack is stained in blood, Angel blood included.
I do want to have some kind of trust between the alpha and I but things must be taken slowly because of the bad history between our packs. This is not the history of war like Iromar and Diveen but new leadership can bring new beginnings and Aithne has done more than enough to prove she is changing the ways of the swamp wolves. The alpha here however promotes their ways of life and while that may be suiting for her goals, it will not be taken lightly by the other packs of Moladian. She must understand that it's hard to accept being friends with a pack that supports killing innocent lives of other wolves. At her added clause, I contemplate before replying. "I do not disagree that support can be handed out in times of need though I ask that you allow our neutrality should that come to happen between your pack and an ally of Diveen. I cannot harm my relations with other packs or seem like I'm taking sides between allies so I can offer support to both, though none of my wolves should be put in harm's way. Healers and food, yes, but not fighters. They should not be asked to fight a friend or family member."
I wait to see how she responds to this. I nod to her comment about her own warriors. "I understand." I offer to let her know I agree. I walk with her through the long grass. It is quite pretty but it's still not the paradise that Diveen is. As she stops on a knoll, I stop beside her and turn slightly to face her, offering her my full attention once more. These comments please me. "Yes, a play date would be nice. I would offer Diveen first for the youth as I'm sure you understand. Your king does not have the best reputation with offspring not his own." I hate to remind her of this but I'm sure she already knows. "I'm sure I can find healers to spend time with yours and my warriors would be honored to have a spar with such wolves as you have."
Her next words have me tilting my head however. Any Angel? I have to smirk though humor is the furthest from what I feel as I turn my gaze back to hers. "While I agree that we should discuss such things as any breach on the treaty, I do not dare to dream I can control every wolf with an inkling of Heyel's blood that runs through Moladian's lands. You do not have such a legacy as yet so you may not fully understand. Family is not meant to be controlled and while we rule our packs the best we can, those that step beyond its borders are out to start a life their own and step away from our responsibility. A loner will not stop to overhear gossip of this treaty and decide maybe they shouldn't attack that wolf because it would mess things up. They will do as they please and though I may try to intervene if I hear word of it, I cannot control the lives of all wolves in Moladian. Heyel may have boasted himself as Moladian's king, but I do not hold such power and I will not hold myself up as such."
"If a wolf of your blood but not of your pack were to attack a wolf of Diveen, I would come to you first before acting but I would not accuse you of treason. I would do this out of good faith, not because I have to. I ask you to take the same step of faith with me. My pack is one thing, Impa. The whole of Moladian? One wolf can only do so much and though I may be Heyel's grandson, my name does not have the same power as his, at least not yet." I hold her gaze evenly, waiting to hear what she has to say. If this is to be a path of disagreement than maybe I should seek up counsel with Hyrule again and see his thoughts on the matter. I'm sure he would agree though that I cannot make a treaty knowing that I'll have to take responsibility for every wolf in Moladian who claims Heyel as a relative. That's probably a 1:2 ratio by now; they tend to breed like rabbits, apparently.
