Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

with every rain comes a fresh breath of life

He was on his way home alone. A trip he had made several times in such a manner in the past but it felt a little lonelier this time. Yuki wanted to stay in Spirane. He could tell even if she didn’t say it out right the little boy was quite aware of his sisters emotions or intentions. He had thought her knowing their dad returned would maybe lure her back to Diveen but it seemed something had caught her eye in the mountain pack and anchored her there more than ever. It okay he guessed. He was getting lonely in Diveen and he wasn’t exactly the best at making friends. He had Halcyon and he had seen him at the party but had lost track of him as those girls he had met in Asteraia showed up. They always seemed to ruin everything. That time he had went to help those angel brothers being at the forefront of his mind. If Calliel hadn’t helped him he didn’t know what would have happened to him. Still it didn’t change the fact he wasn’t friends with those boys, even if they were the same age, and all of his true friends seemed to be scattered about Moladion like dandelion seeds.

The smaller sized boy considered what he could do when he got back. He could continue training with his father, but he never liked healing much. It was what his father wanted to do, but Ame was much more inspired by his Grandfather’s stories of being a great warrior and assassin. Yes, Ame knew the plants and could probably heal most wounds but that didn’t mean that’s what he wanted to do. But he didn’t think he was strong enough to be a fighter or warrior. Not when his parents were smaller more thinly built wolves. That was just what he expected to be too.

He gave a little sigh, not sure what to do when he finally got home but something distracted him. A rustle of brush and a soft scared hello that sounded far to like his own whenever he greeted anyone. He stopped letting his bright blue and golden flecked eyes go around trying to find the source of the call. Though the brush not all that far away he saw someone familiar, but not. It was that super friendly and nice girl at the party, someone who Yuki called her friend. He stared at her, noticing the complete difference in her stance and her voice now. Ame himself wasn’t sure if he should go up to her, or if he could. He blushed at the very thought of when she had jumped into his face to say hello and ask his name sheepish just from the sheer memory of the moment. He hadn’t been able to barely say it to her before she was bounding off again to say hello to the others. She seemed like him now. Terrified, frozen stiff with fear of… something. She wasn’t looking towards him either. Ame’s nose twitched, trying to find the source of what was scaring her but he didn’t smell any other wolves around.

The roar reached him then. One that caused his ears to fall back with the shear loudness of the call. Bears were just like any other beast of Moladion. Friendly or vicious but most didn’t want a fight if it could be avoided. If you looked tough they would, generally, leave you alone. You laid down and were already dead you weren’t a threat if you were threatening them. The lessons his mother told him as he grew up learning about the other animals. The foxes, the birds, bears and coyotes. He learned about them all, what made them special and while they couldn’t talk to them like they could others of their kind how to communicate with them in a way they understood.

His eyes moved then spotting the female bear who slowly was moving towards Semele in a grumpy rage. The female didn’t look hungry just protective. She probably had wolves kill her cubs in the past and was just worried that maybe Semele would do the same. Lay down. He bid her silently, he knew many wolves did not know how to communicate with other animals she likely was among that majority. Time seemed to slow down for the boy looking between the mother bear and Semele before finally his paws moved all on their own. He couldn’t do nothing not when he could help her!

He was a quick boy, gangly yet still he had been blessed with muscle he never recognize he had. In no universe would he be able to fight a full grown mother bear and win every scenario that was a fight would prove him to be losing and dying. While that didn’t sound bad if it meant the other girl would get away he didn’t think it would come down to that. Instead he quickly placed himself beside the smaller girl and rammed his shoulder into her own. Buckled as she was she would likely hit the ground roughly but on the ground was where she needed to be so that the female bear saw him, the male wolf, the bigger wolf, the standing, moving wolf, as her bigger threat.

”Stay there until This One draws her away!” He barked not looking at the girl his form lowered as she gave another earth shattering roar her eyes setting on his own. He was scared, but not at the same time. It wasn’t for him that he was scared it was for the girl. Everything seemed to be going the way he wanted the way their animalistic natures decreed it should. His form lowered ears fell flat against his head as she began doing a faulty charge for him to fend him off and away from her young. He didn’t move back towards where Semele had likely fallen instead he simply moved to the bears right sprinting forward so that she pivoted to face him and give another irritated roar and swipe of the paw in his direction.

He was careful to keep far away from her reach. Growling and staring her down so that she kept her attention fully on him as he continued moving around back and fourths to tease her step by step further away from the red pelted girl. It would take time but he hoped she would regain herself and run on her own wits until he could get himself away as well. It wouldn’t be hard for him. This female wasn’t looking to kill him after all just get him away. Killing him was only an option should he start attacking himself and Ame by no means wanted to hurt her or her children. Adrinalin was pumping through him, his heart was racing. Never had he done anything like this in his life but still he knew it was right and he just had to keep it up a bit longer and hope the girl would move or he could get the mother bear even further away. Once Semele was safe he would run away to safety too that was the ultimate good ending he desired.
