The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

strange things have happened here,
no stranger would it be

I got my deserved rank among the wolves of Spirane. I had worked hard to climb to the top. I do my best when there is a mission on hand. But now? Now I am intrigued. I had met a Hyrule here, a young boy but he had caught my attention. It was the dead of night then. He does not know who I was, and he does not know where I was from. I wonder if he was to be found here at the grotto again, and thus my paws move in quick march to investigate if he still roamed the darkness of the caves like Ahvori does...my alternate name that I am using on those who have no reason to know my real name.

As I tread closer to the grotto my nose, keen, and my mind well aware to pick up on subtle differences, catches wind of the scent of blood. It stirs me, forces me to follow the scent as I lope along. I wouldn't mind a bite or two to satiate any hunger that is growing in my belly. It was outside of the grotto, and I climb to where it was on this moon lit night. It was devoured, the once living thing, and I find very little to work with. I snort, instead catching wind of the scent of one who ate at the carcass going into the grotto.

It was a scent that rang a bell in my head but I couldn't put my paw on it immediately. I narrowed my blue eyes as I followed the scent into the darkness and winding caves of the grotto. I sniff as I continue on. It is easier to follow the scent than to look with my eyes at times, but I then swear that I hear a slightly different noise in the silence, perhaps the sound of tongue licking lips. I had used this tactic before, blood to draw in others. I wonder if I am stepping into my own kind of trap. I stay around a bend of rock, a smirk on my face in the darkness.

"It isn't exactly wise to walk into a confined cave with a blood scent leading right to you," I say from my hidden position. It is not the prime position that I had tricked Hyrule with, but perhaps I can have a bit of fun here. My voice does give way to an echo, but it is not as thrown around as before. I stand ready around the corner in the darkness, my ears fixated on the air and aware of any movement in the air...ready to move at any notice.

to meet at midnight in the hanging tree.
